First Date

Kai

You spent the next few afternoons after school at the shop with Kai, learning the art of welding while getting to know Kai better as well as perfecting Nya's present. Explaining to her why you couldn't make it to your daily mini tennis matches wasn't as nearly hard as you'd worried it would be. She'd smirk and tell you to go hang out with Kai, making you blush. Was it that obvious?

Presently, you were painting the finishing touches on Nya's gift, the welded-metal cherry blossoms. Though you were too absorbed to notice, Kai was watching you intently. He liked you. He'd never admit it, but his palms got sweaty whenever you were around, and he could feel his heart beating faster.

"All done!" you said cheerfully setting the brush down to admire your work. Nya would love it! You looked over to Kai. "Kai, do you need some laxatives again? The pharmacy is down the street, you know." You may have sounded like you were just joking, but lately you'd become concerned with Kai's strange behavior. He was acting with a lot less confidence now. Almost...shyly. It was kind of sweet, actually, but you didn't really understand it.

"What? Oh, uh, no, I'm fine," he answered dismissively, hastily averting his gaze.

You raised an eyebrow inquisitively at him. "Hey, is everything alright with you? You've been acting really oddly for the last few days."

"Y/N, I promise it's noth-"

"Don't start that nonsense with me."

"Okay, fine..." He took a deep breath. "Y/N, I really like you, okay? You're so caring, easy-going, and really fun to be around. And I've never met someone with such a great sense of humor! ...Will you go out with me?"

For once in your life you didn't have a sassy response. Instead, with red cheeks, you smiled at him and whispered, "Yes. Yes, Kai, I'd love to."

He leaned down to kiss your cheek. "Holy cow. Thank you, Y/N."

XOXOXOXOXO

Your first date ended up being at Nya's birthday party later that week. You and Kai agreed not to tell her as a surprise. The party wasn't anything huge; she just had a few close friends of both hers and Kai's at their house. You came early to help set up with Kai (imagine how that went). At present-opening time, you and Kai handed Nya the package. She squealed (whether more at the present or at the news, you didn't know) happily, beyond pleased. Later, you asked Kai how much money you owed him.

"Nothing," he said, pressing his lips to your hand. "You're more than I could've asked for."

Zane

Zane was at the school library with you, though this time he was tutoring you. After a few more weeks of you receiving failing grades for English, and risking not passing the marking period, you finally agreed to your teacher's suggestion to have Zane help you out. Thus, here you were.

It'd taken a while, but once you'd noticed your grades had gotten better in the class because of Zane's assistance, you stopped being so rude to him, though generally you were still irritable by nature. But even that was slowly dissapating. Zane had a calming effect on you. Whether it was his voice, those light blue eyes, or undying patience, you had no idea.

Today you were studying for an upcoming quiz on some more Shakespeare, specifically Romeo and Juliet.

"Alright, so the balcony scene basically shows how Romeo's head-over-heels for Juliet, right?" you asked, thumbing to said scene. It wasn't really until Zane had explained them to you did you understand why your teacher seemed so infatuated with them.
