Olivia didn't know how long she was laying on the hard ground of her cell, but did know she couldn't recall being dragged into the large laboratory, where she now lay, strapped firmly on to an operating table.
She opened her eyes, trying to take in her surroundings. She observed large machines that populated the room, all possessing assorted wires that clung to the devices. Their purpose escaped Olivia's mind, as she lay, oblivious to what her fate contained.
Her thoughts were interrupted abruptly when a door to her left was opened, and in came strolling a tall man in a white lab coat, with splatters of rich, red blood across it.
The man had high cheekbones, with blue eyes that drew attention to his slim face structure. His hair was combed back smoothly, with excessive amounts of gel, that gave him his sharp image.
He didn't waste time, and turned straight to Olivia.
"You probably have a large amount of questions regarding your capture, your supposed death and the reasons as to why you are lying before me on an operating table. Yes? Good. If you stay silent I will give you the answers to such questions and a fraction more. Agreed? Good. Now let us commence in a conversation that will no doubt be tiresome and time consuming for the both of us.
"First off, your capture was sparked when the Government saw a file regarding a murder on your behalf. At first we were intrigued as to how a girl of your age could murder a man of 40 years. That was until we realised your, ah, gift.
"After we assessed your threat to the society, we decided our reaction, hence, your arrival-"
"My capture"
"I thought we decided you wouldn't talk. Anyhow-"
"You can't silence me. You tried, remember? You failed. I'm still here."
He sighed.
"Actually, didn't try to silence you. We inserted a bullet that transmits the pain of a real gunshot, but doesn't fatally harm you or threaten your existence."
"Oh."
That was disappointing. Olivia quite fancied the idea of immortality, despite how much she hated her life.
"Can I talk now?"
Olivia wanted to talk on. To ask questions. To vocalise her thoughts. However, she wanted answers more.
She nodded.
"As I was saying, you arrived at our faculty, and they handed you to me, unconscious. I told them I wasn't ready to work with you, so they then transported you to your cell.
"After a while I was able to operate on you, and soon you lay on my table before me. I started working right away, in order to discover what makes you capable to, uh, do what you do.
"I was intrigued when I discovered there was no part of your genes that had been duplicated in order to display such a... talent. The same goes with your chromosomes and cells. You are completely normal, of sorts.
"However, this means that this talent is irreversible. Because of this, the Government has a...proposition for you."
