When the man returned Olivia still hadn't confirmed her decision, and was still contemplating her options.
He turned to her.
"Have you decided, Olivia?"
That was the first time he had said her name. It sent chills down her spine.
"Uhhhh...."
This was it. Olivia had breached a part of her life where a fatal decision was about to take place; to end her existence, or to let it drag on further?
"I, um, choose... ah, death. Yeah. Execution."
He looked startled. Disappointed, even.
"Oh. Ok. Um, are you sure?"
Her voice betrayed her as fear ripped at her throat.
She simply nodded her head.
"Very well. We will commence right away."
"What? Right now?" She cried, alarmed.
He turned to a small desk behind him and took a large needle from it. He then turned back to her.
"Let's get this over and done with."
When the tool came into closer perspective Olivia saw that it was actually a thin stabbing mechanism. He brought it up to her neck, where the blade gently caressed her tender skin.
"Not to be cliche," he said, "but any last words?"
Olivia shook her head roughly, though was careful of the blade.
"Please, just do it." She begged, still unsure of herself.
She felt the blade push harder against her skin, until she detected an entrance, as pain teared through her neck.
"Stop! No! I'll do whatever you want! Please don't take my life!"
He said nothing, but simply ejected the blade and left the room.
Olivia let out a small sigh of relief.
Her existence would stretch forward for a little longer, and given the current circumstances, that was the best she could ask for.
