Sometimes, when I'm with Luke, I forget the harsh reality that is my life.

Like, when I was with him yesterday, at the park in the middle of nowhere, I completely forgot that I'd have to be at school today. I had forgotten entirely that he would go back to pretending that he doesn't love me, or know me.

I had forgotten that he would break my heart again.

On the bus this morning, he sat beside me, but didn't utter a single word to me. Of course, he spoke to Bella, but not me. The tall dumb bimbo just had to look at me with the biggest fucking smirk on her face when she kissed him on the cheek, though. And Luke didn't even notice.

"So Lukey," Bella smiles obnoxiously. "Daddy was like, wondering if you wanted to come over. You know, for dinner. He so knows that we have a thing and he approves of us being together!"

I scoff, rolling my eyes. Luke's gaze rests on me and he furrows his brow. "Ana..." he says, like a warning.

"What?" I snap at him, sending a glare Bella's way. "She's the most pathetic, clingy whore. I don't see why you chested on your girlfriend for her, Luke."

People around us begin to mumble to eachother with confusion. Luke winces and gives me a pained expression. Bella seems genuinely surprised at the newfound information. "You have a girlfriend, Luke?"

A wave of confidence rushes through me, and I smirk. "Yeah, he does," I smile. "Why don't you tell them who it is Luke?"

"Ana.." he shot me a look, taken aback at my attitude. I shrug and gesture for him to say it. He sighs, looking down. "Ana." He repeats my name, and Bella looks confused.

"Wait, wha-"

"My girlfriend is Anastasia Collins." Luke says loudly, causing multiple bystanders to gasp. Bella's eyes widen and she crosses her arms over her chest. Luke looks up, shameless confidence fills his eyes. "Yeah, she's my girlfriend. And you know what, Bella?"

He stands up, as the bus had just pulled up at the school, and gets really close to her face. "I'm in love with her."

I'm awe struck, my eyes and mouth wide with surprise - shock. Luke pushes past the gaping bystanders and everyone follows after him, a few staring at me, seeming as shocked as me.

I stay sitting until after the bus is empty, and the driver looks back at me. "Miss, are you going to get out? I can't stay here forever."

I nod, frowning as I shakily pick up my bag and exit the bus, faces with scowls and confused expressions surrounding me. And half of them didn't catch my bus.

"Anastasia Collins, I need to talk to you."

The voice sent shivers down my spine, and I didn't understand why he would want to speak to me. I turn quickly, the familiar boy with the sharp jawline and recently cut hair making a beeline toward me. I sit on the silver benches outside the Quad, and I don't understand how he found out about my whereabouts.

"Not now, Ashton." I sigh, fiddling with my fingers. "I haven't had the greatest morning."

He scoffs, sitting beside me and biting his lip. "I assume that's to do with the Luke and Bella thing." I nod. "Wouldn't you be glad? I mean, he confessed that he was in love with you in front of some of the most popular people in school."

I slump my shoulders and huff. He has a point, I suppose. "I get that, Ashton." I sigh. "It's just that I'm going to be pushed around for this. I'll be called a slut, and there will be girls like Bella who'll try and split us up. Besides, I was kind of a bitch and I pressured him into telling Bella who he was dating, because he was small talking her, I guess."

Ashton begins to put his hand on my knee - a soothing gesture, I suppose - but quickly stops, awkwardly glancing down. "Look, I know I've never been your friend, and I've always been a massive dick to you.."

I interrupt him with a smirk. "That's because you have a small dick." I nod, giving him a cheeky glance.

He rolls his eyes and shoves me gently, seemingly aware of how frail I really was. "Anyways," he drags the word out with a small smile. "I just wanted to say that I am really sorry. I was always scared of being nice to you because I was too hung up in my fucking reputation to care about getting to know you."

I sigh, placing my hand on his shoulder hesitantly. "Listen, Ash - wait, can I call you that?" he nods, gesturing for me to continue speaking. "Okay, well.. I get where you're coming from, I guess. But did you have to be so horrid to me? I mean, Michael never liked me but he was never a dick to my face.."

He doesn't have an answer, and I heave out a frustrated sigh. "Ashton, I don't doubt that you could be a good guy. But until I know for sure, I won't be able to forgive you. For all I know, you're only here apologizing to get on Luke's good side."

Although it wasn't particularly the right time to make a joke, he makes one anyway. That, and maybe some drumming lessons?"

His smirk is wide and humorous, and I kind of want to slap it off. But my mouth cracks into a grin and I let out a chuckle before I can even think about scowling at him.

"See you later, Ashton."
