It takes about half an hour to get to wherever Luke is taking me, but the long drive is definitely worth it.

Because... wow.

It's not some gorgeous waterfall or rock with the view of a castle. It's just... a park. But, there's something about it that gives me the strangest feeling.

"Do you like it?" Luke whispers expectantly. Coming up from behind me.

I bite my lip and narrow my eyes. "I would, if I knew what it was."

He chuckled and put his hand out for me to grab, but I just pushed it away and he sighed, leading me to a rusty looking swing set. He sits on one and smiles at me sheepishly. "Its My Spot." he states, and I raise an eyebrow as if asking for more information. "Sometimes when things get.. too much for me to handle, I drive out here and just... well, breathe. You know, like that Pearl Jam song?" He chuckles lightly, attempting to lighten the mood with slight success. I give a small smile and sit on the swing opposite his.

"So, you drive half an hour away from home to breathe?" I laugh. He shrugs and nods, beginning a strange silence that makes me uncomfortable. "Why is it your spot? Like, isn't there anywhere closer to town rather than in a place that kinda resembles Minnesota?"

"How does it resemble Minnesota?" He gives a bubbly laugh. "It's by even snowing."

"But it's fucking cold."

"True."

He hasn't answered my question. "Are you going to answer me or stare at me?"

He stutters a bit before sighing. "I don't know." he shrugs. "I used to live about five minutes from this park so if walk here and, since there's a newer fancier park around the block, no one ever comes here. I'm actually surprised they haven't gotten rid of it."

I eye him suspiciously. "Not that I don't believe you, but I feel like there's something you're not telling me."

A few moments of hesitant silence passes before he actually says something. "This is where I met the first girl I ever fell in love with."

I press my lips together, jealousy washing over my tensed body quickly before kind of evaporating into thin air. There's some saying that I read not too long ago.

You will fall in love more than once, and the second time will be more painful than the first, but also more amazing.

I smile, rather than scowling, and take his hand in mine. I feel slightly guilty for not telling him where I actually was this afternoon, but he can't know. He can never find out.

"What happened to her?" I break the silence, glancing at him apologetically.

He sighs solemnly and looks down. "I fell in love with her, but she never loved me." He explains. "She didn't love me, nor was she ever in love with me. And my stupidity blinded me from the fact that she was cheating on me with my best friend. I guess that's a big reason why we moved to Wichita. I needed a new start. And so far, it's been great." He smiles at me, and seems like he's going to take my hand. But then retreats and doesn't say anything.

I frown slightly before speaking, breaking through the silence. "What was this place, anyway?"

Luke shrugs, glancing around at the slightly wrecked park. "I think it was some old school yard.. Before they tore the school down. I remember that, we had no school for like, months."

I notice that he's fiddling with his fingers, so I put my hands over them and grumble. "Don't think that this means I'm forgiving you."

At first he seems disappointed. I kind of feel bad for the whole thing. Like, he brought me out here most likely in attempts to get on my good side, and I just keep rejecting him. But I have an excuse. He kissed her. He kissed Bella. And it wasn't like she forced herself onto him, I saw him kiss her!

"I know." He sighs. "But at least you have an idea of how much I care about you. I brought you out here to show you my Spot. And I show no one my spot."

I smile at him sympathetically and he shrugs. "Anyways," he breathes, hopping up. "We need to get going."

I nod and huff exasperatedly. "I don't want to leave."

As he dawdled toward the car, I hear him mutter under his breath, "Trust me baby, I don't either."
