I awoke groggily, feeling soft blades underneath my fingers. I stretch the slightly, feeling the warmth of the summer against my skin. The heat of the sun beating down at me like a welcome home hug.
The field smelled like sunflowers in a summer heat. Like the strawberry fields of camp Halfblood, only here of sunflowers. It made me long for home in some way, for camp and all my friends. It made me miss my mom in someway.
"Enjoying the sun, Shark breath?" I hear a voice say.
"I was," I say, cracking an eye open. "Until your board shoulders decided to be in the way."
Phoebus barks out a laugh, pressing his hand against his chest and leaning back. He turns on his heel and steps to the side before falling backwards beside me in the field of Sunflowers.
"Better?" He turns his head to me.
"Sure is." I tell him with a smile. "How is Olympus?"
Phoebus shrugs his shoulders. "They're fighting over who's the favourite aunt and uncle."
I laugh. Feeling genuine laughter erupting from my chest. I hadn't laughed like this since the whole school gym fiasco. I didn't even had much time to stop and really let it sink in what had happened at school.
So much had happened, yet again me and Percy were thrown into all kinds of crazy things. Couldn't we just pass one year without weird things happening? Just one year, that's all i ask for.
I shrug my shoulders. "That would be their most useless argument yet, because I wouldn't be able to pick one." I say softly.
The breeze sweeps through my black locks, smelling like summer and sunflowers. I wish i could stay here. Safe and happy, where i don't have to think about Kronos and his plan for me.
"That is the most you answer, you could give." Phoebus snickers to himself.
I shrug my shoulders. "Yeah, well...doesn't matter." I say, trying to push down the thoughts. That Kronos wants me as his wife, whatever he means with that, that he wants me to rule with him and wash away the gods.
Phoebus turns to me, lacing his fingers through mine and squeezes gently. "What's the matter, Star fish?" Slightly scooting closer to me and placing his other hand on the side of my face. His thumb rubs softly over my cheek.
I didn't want to think about it, let alone voice it out. "Just what Kronos keeps telling me." I say softly, not wanting to go into any further detail because if we lose this fight with Kronos, it would mean that i was left without a choice.
"That won't happen, Daphne." Phoebus begins. "Over my dead body. Over anyone's dead body. Don't give into him, everyone will do their best to help you. Just call out to any of us and we will be by your side in spirit. We can't..."
"You can't physically be there because of the quest." I say. "You're not allowed to him."
Phoebus sighs. "Yes, but we will do anything to ward him off."
"Thanks." I say softly, looking him in the eyes. Those beautiful blue eyes. I brush with my fingers through his golden hair, it feels as warm as summer heated hair. They glister in the sunlight. "How is everyone doing up there, besides fighting who is the best aunt or uncle?"
Phoebus chuckles softly. "Well...your dad is keeping a rather close eye on both of you but knows he can't intervene and yet finds it hard to resist not to do anything. Hera and Zeus are bickering about the fact that Zeus had fathered Thalia and that he can't do anything to help either. Athena is keeping a close eye on Annabeth to determine if her daughter is worthy, and something about a Mark or whatever else she mumbles to herself. The rest is just doing their own thing really."
