Chapter 10

It's Saturday and my mom and I decided to grocery shopping. We couldn't decide on what we want to eat for dinner.

"What about pasta?" I ask my mom. I thought it would be best, I mean its quick fast and easy.

"That sounds good. You go get the stuff, while I go and go get some veggies."

I nod my head and grab the cart and began to walk down aisles until I see the ingredients for the pasta. I left the cart in the middle while I go and grab them.

When I'm looking for then, I hear someone crash into something. When I look up I notice that they have crash into my cart.

"I am so sorry, I don't know why I left the cart in the middle of......." When I look up I couldn't believe my eyes. It was Mr. Johnson.

"Let me call you back." He puts his phone in his back pocket and faced me. "I'm so sorry Miss Hunter."

"I-It's okay." I stutter which is something I need to work on.

"I guess that why the say don't talk and drive" he makes a joke and I giggle a little bit.

"Leila did you get the....oh hello." My mom comes around the corner. "Leila aren't you going to introduce me to your friend."

"Mom this is my boss Mr. Johnson, Mr. Johnson this is my mom."

"Oh you're the one who took Mrs. Higgins place." My mom puts hand out for him to shake it, which he returns.

"Yeah that's me."

"Well mice to meet you. How are you by the way?" she puts her arm around my shoulder.

"I'm good; I'm just here buying some grocery for tonight. I'm making a special dinner tonight for my parents. It's their 34th wedding anniversary."

"Oh how lovely. My husband's and I will be celebrating our anniversary next month. We have been married for 33 years."

"Oh that's amazing. Well I better get going."

"Wait! Would you like to have dinner with us next Saturday?" I look at my mom with my eyes wide open.

What is wrong with her?

"Um mom I'm sure Mr. Johnson is real busy guy......."

"I would love to." He looks at me with a smile.

"Great. Will since you and Leila work together she can give you our address."

"Okay that will be great. I will see you Saturday Mrs. Hunter. I'll see you Monday Miss Hunter."

"Y-yeah you too Mr. Johnson." I look at the ground.

Mr. Johnson gives us a small nod and a smile and walk off. I turn and look at my mom.

"What?" she gives me a smile.

"Nothing now let's go get the rest of the groceries."
