~CASSIA~
"What are you doing in my house?" Aspen asks slowly. "I don't have time to explain but you have to get out of here! Now! You are special and in grave danger. We can come back to get anything that is truly important to you. But you have to trust me, just like you can trust Cassia." He pleads. We look at each other trying to decide if we should trust a total stranger. I gulp and take a step forward, "I will come with you if you know what's wrong with me." I say. "You're a Demi-God. " He says frankly. "Okie-dokie. I'm in," I say. "Cassie, you can't just go with some random stranger because he called you some random word!" Juliet says accusingly and aghast. "Actually, I'd been looking into some things before I ran away, and I took a great interest in Greek mythology because it seemed so familiar, and therefore in fact I do know what a Demi-God is. I also know that we all have to go NOW!!!" I don't know what draws them to listen to me but they do. "Come out the back door," Aspen says.
We all scramble out the screen door and out the gate. Aspen pulls some keys out of her pocket and asks, "Anyone know how to drive?" "I do." I say. They all look at me with cautious looks then shrug and climb in the car. My Dad took me out to some dirt roads in the country to teach me how to drive once when he visited before he died, my mom died giving birth to me. He was always on business trips so I lived with my uncle, but he wasn't a proper guardian after my dad died so I got put into foster care.
I was a natural at driving. I turn the keys in the ignition and change the gear. I put my foot on the pedal and quickly pull out of the driveway. "Hold on!" I yell. I push down full force and we're driving free. "Where are we going to... Ummm?-" I ask. It I don't the kid's name. "Charlie," he confirms. "Okay, where to Charlie?" I ask still speeding a hundred miles above the speed limit.
Seattle, Washington is a very difficult place to navigate while speeding because it is the traffic city of the world for all I know but when you've lived here for as long as I have then you'd know as much as me. I know every side street and shortcut in the city. "Long Island, New York." He says. I slam on the brakes which is followed by several honks from innocent by-drivers. "New York!" I scream turning to look him in the eye. "That's clear across the country!" Juliet backs me up. Aspen is too shocked to say anything.
"There is no way we can drive all the way to New York so quickly and without getting caught. It would be impossible." Aspen says recovering from her trance. "What on earth are we running from?!?" Juliet demands an answer. "Danger." Charlie and I declare at the same time. "Is there another way?" Aspen asks. "Well do you have a rainbow handy?" Charlie says rhetorically. Aspen smirks. Juliet's face lights up. "Everything in Julie's purse is rainbow." Aspen counters. "Not colored rainbow, an actual rainbow." He corrects. Aspen frowns. Juliet rolls her eyes and hands Charlie a CD. She moves it around until it reflects the light just perfect to show all the colors in the rainbow.
