~JULIET~

We've already set up camp in the Hermes cabin when I hear a conch horn blow. I look around and Aspen, Cass, and I are the only ones around. Until a girl with curly dark hair, tan skin, and brown eyes steps in the door. "Hey what are you guys still doing here? It's dinnertime." She says. "Umm..." I intelligently say. "Sorry, I'm Rae! Daughter of Hermes. I can show you around if you'd like." She says. "Thanks so much! Can you take us to the cafeteria?" Aspen asks. "Mess hall," Rae corrects. "Right." Aspen says. "Why is it called a mess hall? Is it messy?" I ask. "No it's just what we call it. I don't exactly know why. It's been called a mess hall since I arrived last year. I'm 13. How old are you 3?" She rambles. "We're all 12." Cassie answers. "Cool. Lets go! Move! Move! Move!" She orders. We all scuttle out of the cabin instantly. "So do you know who your parents are? Or think you know?" Rae says emphasizing think with air quotes. "Well, I am... Demeter. The Goddess of agriculture and harvest, roman counterpart: Ceres." Aspen declares happily. "And I'm a shallow, self- absorbed, hair-flipping Aphrodite girly girl at heart." I smile. "And I'm a daughter of Ath-Poseidon." Cassie says catching herself. "Daughter of the sea and quake." She smiles. "God of Earthquakes and Horses, God of Storms, Lord of the Seas" "Wow! Cool! One of the big 3. Any of you got powers?" Rae asks. "Well I can do this!" Aspen says while tugging Rae out the door. She places her hand on a spot of grass on the ground and emerges a blood-red blooming flower. "Wicked!" She exclaims. "Next, me! It's not much but watch this." I declare. I walk up to Aspen. I stare at her and in my mind I think, 'Dance!' I command. Her eyes go blank and she starts to do the disco. I laugh. "Oh my gosh! Did you do that?" Rae asks in awe. I nod and snap my fingers in front of Aspen's face. She goes back to normal. "What'd I miss?" She asks blankly. We all laugh. "What bout' you 'Big 3'?" Rae asks. "Oh uh... Watch." She closes her eyes and puts her hands together. Water starts flowing from the crevices in her fingers and when she opens them and a ball of water morphs and floats in the air between them. She claps them shut and the water disappears. "Cool!" Rae says. "Yah... Uh huh..." Cassie agrees distractedly. "That's so cool!" I say. "You know what I'm gonna get going, explore by myself." Cassie says. "Bye!" They all say. 'What the heck is up with her? She's so mysterious and secretive, I thought we were her friends.' I think.
