Silent But Deadly [Black Butler] (Under Edit)

Story Summary

Moral of the story of the first part/season is about Maeve Noir, a bullied student, abused daughter, and former 'service submissive', who has manifested themselves into what looks, and sounds like a Fallen Angel. She encounters Sebastian and turns out that the two are destined mates. Since Maeve turned into a Fallen Angel, she doesn't remember nor understand emotions, not even her own anymore, and is preferably forgetful. 

So, she is in complete denial of being mates with Sebastian, and a game of Cat & Mouse comes into play. Sebastian becomes obsessed with Mute and does everything he can to protect, cherish, and simply have her, while Mute tries to be a simple background character. During every encounter with each other, Mute is finding out that there is more than one non-human being living amongst her all while trying to forget about her human past, and while becoming a target for Ash/Angela. With each situation Mute's in, she's exposing herself more to what she can do and what she's capable of.  

Before becoming a Fallen Angel, Mute was indeed human. As mentioned before, she was a bullied student, an abused daughter of a single parent, and a 'service submissive'. Despite Celestine's daily abuse, Maeve still loved her mother. One day Maeve is raped by one of her friends, Carter Raleigh, and starts to lose faith and trust in others. Teachers and friends turn her away while Carter continues to rape Maeve on private school grounds, and would drag her to his house to continue to assault, and would often invite his friends to take turns on her, and torture her however they wanted. 

One night Maeve completely snaps, and kills Carter and his friends with a knife that she had snatched out of one of Carter's friends during the assault of Knife Play. After the slaying, Maeve realizes what she's done and begins to laugh, symbolizing her loss for her humanity and sanity. Her spiraling mind and emotions causes her soul to manifest into a Fallen Angel. During the night of the manifestation, Maeve's appearance is completely different, the picture shown in Chapter 19, Have It Your Way, before she flees the scene and runs into Yae Miko. 

These two characters meet each other in the woods and Mute is the first to attack, seeing Miko as a threat, plus making Miko the first person to see in Mute's new form. During their battle, Miko can see and hear the pain and hurt in Maeve's grunts with each strike Maeve was throwing at her. In other words, she felt sympathy for Mute. So, after defeating the Fallen Angel, Miko befriends Maeve and the two form a protective sisterly bond, and over time, Maeve takes on a more human-like form. 

Miko, just like in the game, Genshin Impact, is a Japanese Kitsune and still has the same abilities, and character traits. Miko is the first to discover and understand Maeve's abilities, and help Maeve control her newfound power. She is also the one who decided to give Maeve a new name because of her dead silence, and considering the fact Maeve may have forgotten it during her transformation. 

Because of Miko's kindness and hospitality, Mute was able to take on a calmer appearance, as the image shows in the book cover. Although Maeve is taken for a Fallen Angel, her abilities are much darker. Her black wings can turn into spikes, or sprawl out into tendrils, and her scream is similar to a Banshee's. 

Moving forward, Ash/Angela believes in some way that he can turn Mute into a White Winged Angel by alternating her memories, and also forcing her to be their 'lover'. But, Mute doesn't want to remember anything from her human past, so she is defiant with every encounter. Unfortunately Ciel nor Sebastian was able to see Mute's memories when Ash/Angela was trying to alter them, but Undertaker did since he happened to be at the Library the entire time. The relationship between Undertaker and Mute is more of a supportive dynamic. He sees her for who she is, and she understands his role as a Reaper. Although the 3 (Mute, Miko, & Undertaker) had barely crossed paths, they quickly become acquainted. In the end, the Angel is defeated, Sebastian 'takes' Ciel's soul, and Mute and Miko return home, whether or not to stay in London or continue their journey, since the two also travel.
