It is really fantastic when where the writer is born and raised jives with what they write. Take Heated Rivalry. The writer, Rachel Reid, is a small town Canadian who loves hockey. Quintessential Canadian. And they write what clearly excites them: a fresh LGBTQ twist on the popular hockey romance genre. Because of this sincere conviction and interest, the story eventually blossomed to amazing success.
Alas, I have an answer to why it wasn't me who wrote Heated Rivalry, despite being a Canadian and writing a lot of romance for many years. I don't know hockey, it revolts me if anything... so it can't be me. I can't imagine it being me or wish it was me.
What I wish is that I finally find my thing that puts together everything I am and I love and leads me to my own success.
