Oh my gosh, I didn't update this forever, because Year 2024 whooshed by while I was writing my Wattpad Original. It was a great experience, but next year will be very different for me.
First and foremost, it will incorporate a few weeks of hiatus as soon as I finish my Originals serial. I need it badly to rest and restore the balance between writing and everything else in my life. Producing content on deadline for a very specific set of characters drained me and lead to accumulating a serious backlog of stories that require a deep/slow editing run. Hence, I will also skip the ONC and Watty in 2025.
This is a good place to mention that I honed my editing skill set quite a bit with the Originals, because it required me to deliver chapters in a ready-to-go state versus my usual approach of multiple drafts of the whole story with long breaks in between.
In addition, editing/proof-reading software continues to develop, so I took the plunge and upgraded ProWritingAid for more options for editing. I find the overview it generates for a completed chapter very useful to me, because it lets me see if I hit my goals for each chapter. On the downside, it loves to correct things that are not broken and its ideas on descriptive style are deep purple. Lol.
While I was thinking about editing backlog, I also kicked around the idea of developing a new habit of periodically revisiting my older books that I felt can benefit from deep/slow editing runs.
With all that in mind, I pulled out my 2024-2025 plan and updated it for 2025.
My strategy remains the same: to divide my time between the stories that are most likely to bring me the organic readership I crave so badly, and the stories that I write for my own enjoyment. I also paired up new content writing with slow/deep editing based on feedback and using the ProWritingAid to help identify issues I had missed before.
Turns out, I have enough on my plate already to keep me writing for two years, not one, before I can think of anything from my parking lot!
So, at the moment, my work plan looks like this:
