Anis's room was decorated with flowers, roses, tulips, tube-roses, and some flowers that I couldn't identify as well as scented candles. The lights were dimmed, casting a romantic glow all over the room. Rose petals were spread all over the floor and on the bed as well. I had discarded my heels a long time back and now sat, with my toes beneath me and my skirt spread all around me on the bed. After all the traditions were followed, I was now in Anis's room, waiting for him. Maira accompanied me, chatting animatedly and I smiled at her.
She checked her phone and read something there. Grinning from ear to ear, she hugged me tightly.
"I'm so excited to have you around now, Alisha. I'll see you in the morning. Have a good night."
She stood up from the bed. I smiled in response.
"You too, Maira!" I responded. She winked at me and then left in a swirl of pink silk. I was left alone in the room amidst the fragrance of roses and scented candles. The room was surrounded in a red and orange glow. I turned around at the sound of the room door opening and then closing.
I knew those footsteps. He was here. I don't know why that thought made my breath catch. I looked at Anis, standing there, in his tuxedo and his hair gelled up in spikes. My heart skipped a beat. This was no different scene for me but it was. I had been alone with Anis numerous times but today was different: perhaps because I was married to him now.
I watched as he unclasped his wrist-watch and placed it on the dressing table in the middle of the room. He turned towards me then and took the last steps separating us. Sitting down on the bed beside me, he took my hands in his.
"I really hate it when your wring your hands together like you are doing now, Alisha. One of these days you will break your little fingers." He pressed them lightly, looking my eyes. I looked back at him.
"I know you are scared but so am I. Look, my hands are shaking too." He showed me his hand which I took in my own and smiled at him.
"You know, Alisha, I had been waiting for this day all my life and now when it's here, I don't know what to say." He said while tracing small circles on my palm and then he looked directly at me.
"But there is one thing that I want to say, Alisha."
"What?" I asked softly.
"I don't want you to stop living your life because we are married. I don't want any of that. I trust you from deep within my heart and I know that's what makes our relationship strong. Therefore, you are free to do whatever you want, so long that you are with me every night."
"I will always be with you, Anis. I promise."
"I know you will because..." he moved closer towards me. " I will make sure that you don't go anywhere." He drew me forward, more closer to him, and took my lips in his as he gently suckled them.
"It's been so long since I felt you like this Alisha." He whispered as his hands moved to towards my neck and he pulled me closer. I was on his lap now as he kissed me slowly but deeply, his lips contouring my lips to his. His hands moved all over my body, caressing me softly, heating my body all over.
Moaning at the back of my throat, I wrapped my arms around his neck, hugged him while I kissed him back with the same ardor that he was kissing me with. It just felt right to be in his arms right now and as I pressed my body closer to him, all my tension left my body. The only thought that lingered in my mind was that I loved Anis and I was his now.
He pulled back and then kissed my ear, breathing slowly, while sending pure liquid heat coursing through my body at that simple action. I shivered in his arms as he kissed my earlobe and breathed again. I clutched his arms for support and he smiled at me. Moving down, he kissed the back of my ear and neck.
