"Jace! Skylar!"

Sammi rushed through the door and, being the emotional one in the relationship between her and Jinxx, almost burst into tears. Jinxx chuckled and rubbed her back as she flew over to Jace, who was grinning weakly.

She hugged the pale boy and the doctor stood forward, gently brushing her shoulder. She let go of him and smiled sheepishly as Dr. Roth spoke.

"Be, uh, a little bit gentle. He's barely been awake for a half hour." He reasoned. Sammi smiled and stood back, wiping her eyes with a index finger.

"Sorry.. I got a little too enthusiastic." She glanced at Jace and I.

Jace gave a shaky laugh. "It's fine." Sammi's eyes widened and her mouth popped open in shock.

"I- when- what?" She gaped and Jinxx just laughed.

We grinned at them and Sammi huffed. "I feel left out now. The boys are outside- they're waiting their turn. Is it okay for them to come in, Doctor..." She squinted slightly at his name tag, " Roth?"

"Of course- as long as they're not too rowdy. He needs a bit of relaxation at the moment." He answered and Jace snorted slightly.

"I've been relaxing for almost a month from the sounds of it- I'll never have to sleep again!" He snorted and I chuckled at his lame joke.

"Well, let the storm in then." Sammi told Jinxx, who poked his head through the door and ushered them in. Andy and CC were the first to get into the room, mad grins of their faces. The whole band had become close to us- they treated us like true family.

"Hey, dude- nice to see you alive again!" Jake laughed. Jace looked confused and turned to me.

"You, uh... You flatlined eight or nine days ago." I murmured. Jace looked slightly horrified and Jake cringed. "Oops." He mumbled.

Ashley, ever the huggable one, went straight in for a messed-up man hug. Jace laughed croakily at the failure and Ashley just grinned.

"When can he come home?" Sammi pressed, still talking to the doctor.

"We have to run a test or two on his stability and health, then we'll take him off his IV tomorrow morning and he can go home tomorrow night. Keep in mind that he's, for want of a better phrase, fragile and will need peace. Well, not necessarily, but Jace just needs to be relaxed." Dr. Roth explained, much to our relief.

"Good- I'm tired of dusting his room." Jinxx grumbled, glaring at Sammi, who smiled innocently back at him.

We stayed there for almost an hour before the boys started to leave, leaving me, Sammi and Jace there. My eyes were drifting shut slowly as the conversation started to die down and Sammi spoke directly to Jace.

"She barely left your side, you know. She refused to come home, waiting for you to wake up. She doesn't exactly look healthy- I'm stuffing you both with food as soon as you come home. She wouldn't even leave to go to the hospital café, though I don't blame her. The food here is disgusting." Sammi chuckled drily. I looked over at the sleeping girl with wonder.

"Silly girl." I murmured, shaking my head with a small smile playing on my lips.

"I can't imagine her reaction when you spoke- what was it?" Sammi cocked her head sideways, eyes sparkling.

"A bit like yours, actually- she started to laugh and cry at the same time, because the first things I said was 'stop crying, for god's sake.' or something. She seemed so happy." I chuckled dryly.

Sammi nodded. "She missed you so bad, Jace. We all did, but I think Skylar took it hardest. It's great to see you awake again. Unfortunately ... The same can't be said for your skateboard. We'll buy you a new one though."

"You don't have to, you know." I murmured.

"Oh, but we will. You can't stop us!" Sammi made an attempt at an evil laugh and failed, making us both smile. "Make sure you give her a proper hug when you can, though. She complained so much about missing your hugs when she started to ramble."

"Ramble?" My eyebrows raised.

"Skylar'd sit by your bed and just start to talk, and talk, and she wouldn't shut up until her voice went dry, or she'd fall asleep or cry. Don't tell her I told you, though." Sammi said, her eyes watering a little. She blinked a couple of times and the pooled tears disappeared.

"Oh, I will." I chuckled, yawning. "How am I tired?" I scowled.

"Well, technically, you weren't sleeping- your body was trying to recover. Your arm healed almost perfectly." Sammi explained.

Dr. Roth came in and noticed the tired look on my face. "Miss, I think it may be time for youir and your daughter to head home for the night- Marcus can carry her if you'd like her to stay asleep?" A male nurse trotted in after the doctor and Sammi smiled gratefully, standing up.

"Thank you ... We'll come back tomorrow morning, Ja- oh." I was asleep.
