Chapter Eight

"Hey!" I called out to the black-and-white haired women standing by the gate. The women I now called my mother.
She spotted us and waved back, a smile creeping onto her pretty feautures. Jaydon flinched as I hit his arm, distracting him from indiscreetly making googly eyes at Sammi. I rolled my eyes playfullg and raced forwards, leaping into Sammi's open, waiting arms.
"Hey sweetheart. " Sammi giggled and let me go as my new friends reached us nervously. Well, all nervous except Jace.
I think.
"H-h-h-h- Frick I can't do this."Lainey attempted to introduce herself and ended up stopping halfway through,  turning to Lexa in frustration. Lexa chuckled and, being the calmer one of the group, turned to Sammi and stuck out her hand.
"Lexa Venter; it's awesome to finally meet you!" Sammi shook her hand with a warm smile and Lexa turned to the rest of the small group.
"They're all too nervous to say hi, so I'll just do it for them. This is Jaydon, Tyler, Lainey," she pointed to them all in turn as a blond girl raced towards us, "and that's Sabina."
Sammi waved with a smile. "It's nice to meet you all!" Lainey and Jaydon grinned nervously and Tyler finally found his voice. "Oh my god I'm talking to Sammi." His face screwed up and he giggled squeakily. Sammi tilted her head back a little and laughed as Sabina reached us, panting heavily and leaning on Jace's shoulder.
"Hey Sabina! This is Sammi. Sammi, Sabina." I said cheerily,  motioning between the two. Sabina's face broke into a wide smile and she hugged Sammi, taking her by surprise. "Ooh, I've heard so much about you from Skylar!"
"Good things, I hope." Sammi's eyes twinkled and she shot me a grin. "Oh, of course." I smirked playfully and she shoved me lightly.
I laughed and looked around, realizing that there was practically no one here anymore.
I look at my new friends. "You guys better head off before they close the gates."
Lainey nodded and pulled me into one of those 'manly hugs' before waving and jogging off. I farewelled everyone else and smiled at Jace and Sammi. Jace sidled up beside me and we held up our skateboards for Sammi to see. She smiled. "Well, if you're ready to go, let's go!"

"We're back, boys!" Sammi called as we walked in. I undid my hairbands and shook my head, letting my hair fall over my shoulders before running my fingers through it and throwing it up in a sloppy side ponytail. 

Jace flicked his hair out of his eyes and smiled at me when I asked him if he wanted a Rockstar. I almost skipped into the kitchen and grabbed two out of the fridge, going into the loungeroom where he was waiting and giving to him. I cracked my own open and swigged some, watching as Jace did the same and his Adam's Apple bobbed.

My face burnt and I busied myself with turning the TV on when he caught me looking.  I jumped when the TV channel started too loudly and grabbed the remote, hurriedly turning it down with a nervous chuckle. Smiling in amusement, Jace plopped himself of the couch and I followed him, leaning on the arm and curling my legs up beneath me.

I scrolled through the Foxtel rental movies and Sammi walked in. "If you're gonna watch Big Hero 6, count me out or I'll cry." She frowned and Jace and I looked at her. "Don't worry, me too. We're still gonna watch it though. " I looked at Jace for confirmation and he nodded, making Sammi laugh and walk away.

Clicking on it, I snuggled into the back of the couch. Sammi came back and threw the fuzziest blanket I'd ever seen over us. I gasped in delight and grabbed the navy blue material, pulling it over me and giggling. Jace did the same and slumped into it with a noiseless sigh.

The movie started and I cooed over Tadashi continuously until Jace wacked the back of my head with a grin. I whined and grinned with him, staying quiet for the rest of the movie.

"SSShh! You'll wake them up!"

A soft click and a flash blurred my dream and I snuggled further into my warm pillow with a moan of annoyance. After a little while, I registered that my pillow was moving softly and there was something over my waist.

"Idiot! She's waking up!" Someone hissed and then all was quiet. I cracked my eyes open slowly with a yawn. I blinked slowly, waking my brain up a little. I was far too comfortable to move.

"Whaddizzit??" I groaned, my eyes sliding shut again. My pillow shuffled and my eyes snapped open, focusing on the faces of Sammi, Lainey, Jeydon and Sabina. "What are you doing here? And why do you have a camera?" I murmured quietly, and, despite my half-hearted efforts, still half-asleep.

"Um, look at your pillow, sweetheart." Sabina giggled excitedly. I yawned again and looked up awkwardly.

"NO no no. Jace, get up!" I yelped and tried to push his arm off. Of course, the  only thing that did was make him tightening his grip on my waist. I groaned in defeat and Sabina clicked the camera again. My arms were trapped under my body and because Jace was holding me down, I couldn't wriggle out of his grip.

"Jace. Jaaaaace." I called into his ear and just shuffled. "JACE!" He jumped and his eyes flew open.

"Jace, get up, Get offff!" I whined. he looked down and ripped his arm away, his face turning a bright shade of red. Our audience giggled madly and I pushed away from him, fixing my hair awkwardly. "Sabina,delete the photo."

"...Nope!" She giggled and I growled. "Sabina! Delete it!" She huffed. "Fine! Done." The smug look on her face told me otherwise and Jinxx walked in. "Dad! She videoed me!" I whined. Jace was still curled in the far corner of the couch, blushing furiously.

"I don't blame her! It was so adorable." He gushed in a rather girly way. "You've gotta be kidding me!" I threw my hands in the air disbelievingly.

After all was said and done, Jeydon, Lainey and Sabina were shooed home (without deleting anything) and we were eating dinner before going to bed. I was still peeved that she'd seen that, but Jace was an entirely comfortable pillow.

I wouldn't mind doing that again, that's for sure.
