After Janson left I decided that I should try to learn about the machine on my nightstand. I pick up the pieces and put them in a pouch. I grab Lencilia, my dagger, and put on my human guise. Then I search for a place to fix it or tell me about it. After walking for an hour or more, I see a building with a sign above it that said "Pawn Shop". I know what it's for, because of my previous schooling. I walk in and see and old man with little hair on his head.

The hair he does have is white and grey. "Welcome! What can I do for you?" He says. "I found this strange machine that makes a buch of annoying sounds and jumps up and down. I smashed it on the floor, because I couldn't find out how to turn it off and I brought the pieces with me." I state, getting directly to the point.

I hand him the pouch. He opens it and looks inside. "What you described is an alarm clock and this can't be fixed." He explains. "What is the purpose of the alarm clock?" I ask out of curiosity. "It's supposed to wake you up at a certain time." He replies. "It did its job. I have no use of it and you can do whatever you want with it." I say as I start to walk out of the shop.

"Wait!" He calls after me as I exit the shop.

It's now six o'clock and I was gathering my weapons. I choose my bow, Selene, instead of Amiele. Selene was made of cedar and she had silver lines that covered her tips. The silver lines looked like vines with little red flowers as they traveled towards the handle of the bow. I had carved "Selene" into the handle in red, so it matched the flowers.

I had also choosen to take all three of the daggers that I had brought with me. I grabbed the pouch of blue powder also. By the time I had dressed and arranged my weapons to where I could easily grab them, it was 6:23 pm. I heard a knock on the main door and rushed out of my room to answer it. It was Janson in his elfin form and ready to go.

I looked at his dirty blonde hair that was now a long braid down his shoulder and his silver eyes that had been a dull grey when I first saw him. He was beautiful and looked like a warrior with the weapons that he carried. He had a sheathed sword tethered to his side. It also seemed as if he had some daggers placed on his belt. Who knows how many more weapons he had with him. He probably had more hidden inside his coat!

"Ready?" He asked me. "Of course! I've been doing stuff like this for three thousand years!" I reply. He didn't look suprised.

He steps to the side and motions for me to lead." I thought you said that you were showing me where they are?" I question. He shrugs and takes the lead.

We make our way deep in the woods. We finally come to a clearing with a little cabin. "What are they doing here?" I ask. I didn't expect dark elves to go after individuals. I expected them to target the main population of humans. "Can't you sense them?" Janson asks me. Only then do I feel the familiar cold that creeps down my spine. I shiver. "Now I do." I respond.

He smirks and we slowly walk towards the cabin. I can see into the window now and I see three dark elves. One is standing near a mortal woman with its eyes closed as if concentrating. The dark elf is a woman and her hair is down. Her hair is a shiny silver. She has a sword with her.

The other two are watching. One of them is a dark elf man. His hair is a dark shade of purple. He seems to be explaining what the woman is doing to the other. The last one is a little girl elf. Her hair is a dark black. Her eyes are black like the dark elf man talking to her. She has a dagger in her hand.

She looks about 12 and is obviously never seen whatever the dark elf woman is doing and watches intensely. It then occurs to me that they must be a family. A family in the midst of spreading nightmares and depression. I pull an arrow from its previous sheath on my back and place it in the bow. I aim the arrow at the dark elf woman. I aim it at her head.

Then she snaps out of what she was doing and quickly turns around. I release the arrow before she has time to move. It goes through her head and the others whip around. The dark elf man moves the little girl elf behind him and pulls out his own bow and in a split second has it loaded. I was grabbing another arrow while he was doing this and we both aimed at each other. I released without hesitation and hit him in the head as his arrow was released.

His arrow slid past my shoulder, leaving a deep gash. Janson was standing there staring at my wound. He torn off a strip of his shirt from the bottom and was wrapping it around my wound before I had time to react to it. The little girl had backed up a little and fear was written on her face. I ran to the window and busted it open with my elbow. It shattered and I climbed into the cabin.

The girl was now sitting with her knees to her chest and arms wrapped around them. She was still clutching the dagger. I walked past her parent's limp bodies that held matching arrows in their foreheads. I crouched down, so my face was level with the girl's. I heard Janson's footsteps close behind me.

"What's your name? " I asked the little girl in the kindest voice I could muster. She seemed at a loss for words. Many emotions crossed her face. First was fear, then disbelief, confusion, pain, and fear again. "My family!" Her voice broke when she said family and she glanced at her parents bodies. "They were evil." I stated. I saw anger and pain flash across her face.

She then raised the dagger and tried to stab me in the shoulder. I moved out of the way and quickly retrieved the pouch of blue powder. I grabbed a handful and blew it in her face. I saw pure terror in her eyes as she inhaled the powder. I felt sorry for her. She still held the innocence that her parents had long lost. She still held the innocence of a child.

I caught her head as it fell. I then pulled her unconscious body towards me. I placed my arm under her knees and cradled her head with my elbow. I lifted her with ease and walked towards Janson. "What are we going to do about her?" He asked. "We will keep her until I can return to Alfhiem. I will then take care of her until I can find someone to take her as their own." I replied as if it was something simple.

Nobody really wanted a dark elf. They were known to be wild and difficult to tame. "What if nobody wants her?" Janson questioned. "We'll see." I replied. He sighed and we climbed out the window. "Clean up this mess before the human wakes up. I would do it, but I'm going to take her to my place before she awakes." I explain. He seemed to understand and nodded his consent.

I ran to my bungalow with her in my arms. When we were inside I placed her on my bed and pulled the covers up and tucked her in.
