I woke up as the smell of bacon filled my nostrils. I sat up and took a deep whiff. I then pulled back the covers and made my way to the kitchen. Janson had made a breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast, and bacon. Amber was seated at the table and was reading a book as she waited on her food.
I walked up to Janson and he put his arm around my waist. He pulled me close and kissed my cheek. I smiled at his touch. I didn't smile this much until I came to Midgard. He released me and I sat across from Amber. She looked up from her book and smiled.
She put the book down and a serious look dawned her face. "I want to learn how to fight and come with you on your missions." She said. I sighed. She needed to learn how to fight, but I still didn't want her coming with me on my missions.
I was the greatest warrior in all of Alfhiem, but I still came back each night with bruises. I knew I couldn't just say no. I needed to compromise and say no later. "I'll train you and you can come with me at night if you deem yourself worthy and capable." I said.
It was perfect! I would give her the training she needs and keep telling her that she needed more training when she asks to come with me at night. Eventually she would get tired of it and give up. She brightened and Janson placed her food in front of her.
"We'll start training today." I said. She suprised me by smiling. I expected her to argue with the date. I started eating my breakfast.
************************
"We'll start with hand to hand combat." I said. I positioned her in a defensive stance. Her feet were spread and her knees were bent. Her arms were near her chest and she looked decent. "You must be ready for anything. A kick, punch, swipe of the feet...anything." I said. She nodded.
I swept my leg under her feet and she fell on her rear. She grunted and stood back up. "You have to jump over that!" I said. She nodded and ambition filled her eyes. "Are you ready?" I asked her. She nodded once more. "Are you ready for anything?" I asked. She nodded and I swept her feet again.
She was expecting and jumped over it. She smiled and I went to kick her. It was a light kick to see how fast she reacted. She tried to jump back, but she was too slow and I kicked her in the gut. She grunted and got back in position.
"A real fight will be continual abd you need to expect your opponent to strike again if they miss the first time." I said. She mumbled something under her breath. I instructed her on how to effectively block kicks. She started to get the hang of it, so I switched to punches. She had pretty good reactions to punches. I then taught her how to attack in hand-to-hand combat. We spent a good hour on hand-to-hand combat. We then switched to weapons.
Time flew by quickly and Janson called out to us for dinner after a while. We walked back to inside the house and Amber slumped do in her chair. "So, what did y'all do?" Janson asked as he sat our food in front of us.
"I learned hand-to-hand combat, to shoot bow and arrows, and to use daggers." Amber replied with pride shining through her eyes. "Oh really? Maybe you can show me what you've learned tomorrow." He said.
Her face lit up and she squealed. "She's only learned the basics of what I've taught her." I said. Her smile faltered and she turned her head to me. "What do you mean basics?" She asked, clearly insulted. "It takes years to become a high ranked warrior and if that's what you want, or if you are learning this for defence, then you will need a lot of training. You might need it if you find yourself in the wrong situation." I said with a small incline of my head.
She looked kind of offended, but one day she'll understand. "You picked up on the basics faster than most." I said trying to lighten the mood. I didn't really mean to upset her. I was trying to explain the situation. What if she was being hunted by a dark elf and she needed to fight for her life? She'll need to be the best she can in fighting in case the dark elf is highly trained.
Her face brightened a little.
We finished dinner and Amber went to bed. "Are you going to go hunting tonight?" Janson asked me. I shook my head. I didn't really feel like hunting tonight. I needed one good night's rest. Just one.
I felt his hands on my shoulders. He started massaging me from behind. It felt wonderful! He eased the tension in my back and his touch sent sparks of electricity through my body. I turned around and put my arms around his neck. He placed his hands at my waist and it made me smile.
I loved being near him! I loved it when he held me!
He leaned down and softly kissed my lips. I felt the familiar passion start to burn inside of me. We stood there kissing for what felt like five minutes before we broke apart. His beautiful eyes bore into mine. "Gi melin." He said. I was taken back.
"When did you leaen to say 'I love you' in the olden tounge?" I asked. He smiled. "I have contact with the elves in Alfhiem and I learned a few words from them over the last week." He responded. His voice was full of pride. I smiled back.
"I love you too." I said. I wasn't one to make commitments like love, but I would when it comes to my choosen. An elf's choosen is special beyond compare. Their choosen understands them, loves them with their life, needs them. An elf and their choosen's souls can't handle it when they fight.
An elf feels wonderful around their choosen. They feel normal when they aren't around them, unless they fight. Choosens have to be on good terms before leaving one another or both emotional and physical pain cause them to falter in life.
You're stuck with your choosen and there's no way around it. It really sucks if your choosen dies, because you go insane and the depression kills you. I thought about hiw I would feel if Janson died, but quickly pushe that thought from my mind.
I didn't need to think negatively. I needed to be optimistic.
I kissed Janson again. It felt so amazing! I sighed in comfort. I wouldn't let anyone take Janson away. Never.
