I would really appreciate votes and comments. I say this in every chapter of every story I post and it just doesn't seem to get out there. There must be people reading them because I'm sure reads don't just appear on their own. And I do bold my words. I'm positive people see them. So, please vote and comment. At least vote. It's only a click away. Right to your left. :) Thank you to the people who take the time to do it.

To my surprise, when I got to the principal's office, Max was already there. She sat in one of Mrs. Shaw's couches across from her desk with her arms and legs crossed, an impatient expression on her face. Her foot tapping was making a very annoying noise. I tried to walk in quietly, but my squishy shoes gave me away. Max looked up.

"Took you long enough, Scrub." She gave me a sarcastic look and I wrinkled my nose at her.

I looked around Mrs. Shaw's office. It was a familiar place. I have been in there most every day since I started coming here. It mainly has to do with Max's bullying. I knew everything in that office. If something were to go missing, I'd know.

I recognized the pictures on the wall behind the mahogany desk. They were of Mrs. Shaw's family. Her son, daughter and husband. There was a new one, though. I maneuvered my way around the small, brightly lit office to take a better look.

"What are you doing?" Max asked.

"None of your business," I answered.

At that moment, Mrs. Shaw walked through the door with a manilla file folder in her hands. She sighed heavily as she dropped the file on her desk and placed her hands on her hips.

"What have we done now? Fight in the hallway? Name calling? Hmm?" she offered.

Mrs. Shaw was a large black woman with a friendly yet stern face, laughing smile, and dimples. She wore a dark gray suit and had her light brown hair in ringlets. Max was, as usual, wearing a tank top and shorts with rubber topped tennis shoes. It was her style. Never anything else. Maybe it was a different type of tank top or shorts with a different color or pattern. But it was always that and it always will be. Today she decided to accessorize her outfit by wearing a silky scarf as a belt.

"I didn't do anything, Mrs. Shaw," Max said smugly.

Mrs. Shaw gave her a disbelieving look and scoffed. "Well, I never believed that and I don't think I'll start today."

I coughed, trying to cover up my laugh. Mrs. Shaw turned to me.

"Greyson Skinuth. There is not one week when I don't see you in here. Care to tell me what happened?" She took a seat in her office chair and looked up at me standing by the pictures.

"Well, good morning to you, too," I mumbled as I walked around her desk to sit in the space farthest from Max. She rolled her eyes and scooted away. "Is that a new picture I see up there?" I pointed to the wall.

She looked to the picture, then turned back to me with a smile on her face. "That's my daughter, her husband, and their new baby!" She giggled and sighed happily. "Thank god she pushed out a grandkid for me before I died."

I grinned at her. Max raised her hand sarcastically.

"Um, excuse me?" she said.

We both looked at her. "Yes?" Mrs. Shaw said.

"I don't think we're here to stare at pictures of your grandkids. Can we get on with our day?" She glared at me. I glared right back.

Mrs. Shaw raised a disapproving eyebrow at her, but reluctantly agreed. "I'll hear Max's story first."
