Mack's POV

I woke up in the morning to my phone ringing. I lazily sat up and grabbed it. I pressed answer call. "Hello?"

"Hey Mack you still coming to my party?" My friend Leo asked. Leo was having a party at his house and mostly the whole school was invited.

"Yeah of course Leo! What time should I be there?"

"Um I would say around 8."

"Okay I'll see you then."

"Alright bye Mack."

"Bye Leo," I said before hanging up. I got out of bed and went downstairs. Justin was sitting at the table on his laptop. "Morning father."

He chuckled, "morning daughter."

"Whacha doing?"

"Looking at dates for meetings."

"Oh cool," I said. I walked over to the fridge and got a yogurt out.

"Hey I just noticed that you're not dressed."

"Oh yeah I have a party to go to today so why get ready right now."

"Who's party is it?"

"My friend Leo's."

"Oh okay what time are you going?"

"Um around 8."

"What time will you be back?"

I groaned, "dad."

"What? I need to know these things."

"I don't know I'll be back around one."

"I don't think so. Be back around ten."

"Come on dad I'll be here at one."

"How about 12?"

I sighed, "fine 12."

He smiled in satisfaction, "Okay."

I grabbed the cereal and milk and put some in a cup and sat next to Justin.

"So someone's birthday is tomorrow," Justin said nudging me.

"Who?" I asked.

He looked at me and with a blank look. "Do you seriously not remember your own birthday?"

Oh shit I forgot my birthday is tomorrow.

"You forgot didn't you?"

"Uh yeah kinda."

He chuckled, "I swear you're the weirdest kid I've ever seen."

"I will take that as a compliment," I grinned. We sat in silence for a couple of seconds until I spoke up. "Hey dad can I ask you a question?"

"Sure kiddo."

"Do you uh ever miss Selena?" I hesitated.

He looked at me shocked. "Um at first I did but now I don't."

"I'm sorry that happened," I said looking down.

"Hey princess look at me," he grabbed my chin and lifted up so I was looking at him in the eye. "It was not your fault for what happened. It was hers, okay? Don't think for a second that it was your fault."

I nodded, "okay."

"Do you wanna do something right now? Just you and me."

"Sure dad," I said smiling. "What do you wanna do?"

"Um let's watch movies?" He suggested.

"Yeah sure," I said. We walked to the living room and I picked the maze runner.
