I woke up the next morning with giant smile on my face and put on my glasses and went to my closet to get dressed. I pulled out a sweater and jeans with some uggs and a beanie. The living room and kitchen were empty. Anna must have been hung over, this should be fun. I ran into the kitchen to grab some pots and pans. Anna was sleeping on her bed upside down when I got in there. I banged the pots together. Anna screamed jumping up from her bed and I laughed.
"Lucy! What is your problem?" She practically yelled.
I laughed and threw aspirin at her and she caught it.
"Ugh, I hate you so much right now," She sighed.
"I'll make you breakfast," I bargained.
"Fine," She went into the bathroom to get dressed while I went to go make eggs and pancakes. When I finished Anna came out still in her pajamas and sat at the breakfast bar.
"Here you go," I said handing her the plate.
"Thanks, so how was your night?" She asked.
"It was remarkable," I answered.
"Oooh, really? What happened?" She asked.
I then told her about my whole night with Ryan.
"Oooh, sounds like he likes you," She squealed, "Are you going to go out again?"
"I don't know, we exchanged numbers," I answered.
"Did he text you?" She asked.
"I don't know, I haven't looked at my phone," I said looking around for my phone. I went into my room and grabbed it off my night stand and looked at it walking back out to the kitchen, "No, nothing."
Anna sighed, "Well I bet he'll ask you out again."
"Yeah, I hope so, well I'm going to go to the grocery store," I said grabbing my purse.
"Okay," Anna said with a face full of pancakes.
I laughed then left going down the hall to the elevator and down to the lobby. Once in the lobby I went out the front door and walked a block or so over to the grocery store and grabbed a cart going around and looking off the list of groceries we needed, which was a lot.
"Hey Green!"
I turned around and saw Ryan walking towards me, "Hey Brooks."
"Whoa, you going to eat all of that?" He asked gesturing to my now nearly full cart.
"No, I also have my roommate to feed," I laughed, "What about you?" I said looking at his cart filled with all kinds of food and drinks.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to ask you if you wanted to come to a New Year's Eve party?" He asked.
"Sure," I answered, "Can I bring my roommate?"
"Sure, it will be at my house tonight, I'll text you the directions," He answered.
"Okay, see you tonight," I smiled.
"See ya, Green."
*********
"Anna!" I yelled walking in the front door.
"What?" She asked popping her head over the side of the couch.
"We were invited to a party," I said setting all the groceries on the counter and started putting them away.
"By who?" She asked coming over to help me.
"Ryan," I answered, "He's having a New Year's party tonight."
"Sounds fun!" She squealed, "I have to go get ready!" Anna said the left me to put everything away.
"Can I borrow another dress?" I asked putting away the last of the groceries.
"Sure," She answered peeking her head out of her room.
I went into the bathroom and started my make-up. When I finished I heard my phone ring. I ran out and looked at it.
564 Herald Court
-Brooks"Got the address!" I yelled at Anna.
"Cool, I set a dress out on your bed," She answered.
I walked into my room to find a pretty gold and black dress. It had a gold sparkly top and a black skirt with a bow. Next to it was another pair of very lacey undergarments, "Are you trying to turn me into a slut?" I heard Anna laugh from her room. "Seriously, you act like I do it every night!"
"If you can't even say sex I know you haven't," She said standing in the doorway of the bathroom, "You'll thank me later."
"I won't if it's not going to happen!" I yelled after her, "You're despicable!" I got dressed and put on some jewelry. "I'm ready to go."
"Okay, I'll be done in a sec," Anna answered.
I waited for Anna putting on my jacket and after about five minutes she finally came out.
"Alright, let's go," She said as we left locking the door.
********
Once we made it to the party it was really crowded and the music was really loud. Anna and I walked to the kitchen where she opened a beer and I just grabbed a water.
"I'm going to go dance," Anna said turning towards me.
Okay," I answered, "Be safe."
"See ya!" She said then walked off.
"Make good choices," I laughed.
"Hey Green, you made it!"
I turned around to find Ryan standing behind me with a beer in hand, "I told you I would come."
"Wanna go dance?" He asked.
"Sure," I smiled. He grabbed my elbow and he pulled me out to the large living room where everyone was dancing. I laughed as Ryan danced like a dork and danced with him for a while. A slow song came on and he put his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to him so there wasn't any space between us. I smiled putting my hands up on his shoulders as we danced.
"What's wrong?" Ryan asked me, "Aren't you having fun?"
"Yeah!" I answered.
"Well then what's wrong?" He asked.
"I just don't like New Year's parties as much because you count down and everyone is 'yay happy new year!' and I'm just like yay another birthday," I answered shrugging.
"Well I'll make sure this is the best New Year's party you've ever been to," He smiled.
I laughed and we slow danced for the rest of the night than everyone started to countdown to the new year.
"Three! Two! One! Happy New Year!" Everyone yelled and screamed as I watched everyone kiss and hug around us and I looked back at Ryan and he smiled. He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine and pulled away so our foreheads were still touching.
"Happy Birthday."
And right then and there I knew he was a keeper.
