Brit and Kiwo finally set off, their steps heavy with trepidation. With a somber heart, they crossed the blood-stained checkpoint, each footfall echoing with uncertainty. Passing through the cold metal gate, they arrived at the boundary of the office area, its ominous silence pressing in around them.
"I hope everything goes smoothly from here..." Kiwo whispered, her lips trembling as she stood at the edge of the zone. Her face was pale, her eyes were darting nervously, and she was clearly reaching her limit.
Brit glanced at her, a mixture of helplessness and concern flickering across his face. He hesitated for a few seconds, then responded softly, "We'll get through this. We have to. Let's keep moving."
Kiwo forced a wry smile, grimacing as she struggled to compose herself. "Let's go, Brit..."
No matter her physical pain or how much her body begged her to stop, she clenched her jaw and pressed on. She knew she couldn't afford to give up, not now, not with viewers watching their every move. Giving in wasn't an option; perseverance was their only hope.
Inside the office zone again, the two embarked on their search for the electrical center. Their mission was clear: locate the control unit, activate it to open the previously sealed gate, and escape through the exit. Last time, they couldn't leave because the AI controlled the base, but this time, they believed they had an advantage; they had reached an agreement. Once they powered up the control unit, it would grant them passage. Though deception was possible, they had no better plan.
Thanks to prior experience and the support of their viewers, their search went more smoothly than expected. It didn't take long before they were fortunate enough to locate the center again.
Throughout their journey, the threatening SCPs, like the "Old Man" and others they'd been worrying about, remained conspicuously absent. No sign of their usual foes. Even the "Hard-To-Destroy Reptile" had vanished. Fortunately, it hadn't appeared.
Apart from the dangerous SCPs, the friendly "Tickle Monster" was also nowhere to be seen, probably off playing alone somewhere, unbothered.
Standing before the door of the electrical center, Brit looked back at Kiwo. "Can you hold on?" he asked gently.
Kiwo coughed softly. Though weak, she shook her head with determination. "It's okay, I can hold on. But Brit, if I can't later, you must leave immediately, promise me!"
Brit remained silent, a tacit agreement passing between them.
Finally, the duo stepped inside the electrical center. Everything looked the same as during their last visit, the room unaltered. Only the control unit had been turned off. Approaching it, they felt a wave of emotion, hope mixed with dread.
"Open it, Brit," Kiwo whispered hoarsely, her voice strained. She was nearing her limit.
Brit fixed his gaze on the control unit, took a deep breath, and, with unwavering resolve, reached out and activated it.
