Finding Love In A Unorthodox Way

Chapter 2

After getting me four band t shirts, eight pairs of skinny jeans, and two wristbands, Hales and I went to the food court. She ordered us a slice of cheese pizza each and two sodas, a sprite for me and Pepsi for her. I was starving so I was the first one to finish. Hales finished five minutes after me. After eating we both decided to go back to my place, and watch a marathon of "The Walking Dead." Our all time favorite show.

A couple hours after watching the entire seasons all over again, Hales decided she wanted to have a deep conversation. Ugh! Why can't we just watch my favorite movie "Hot Pursuit" Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara a couple of comedic geniuses!!

"You haven't told me the entire story about how you and Shawn broke up."

"Hales I said he cheated and dumped me what else is there to tell."

"You never told me with whom, who was the trashy girl he slept with? Do I know her?"

"It was Sabrina I said."

"SABRINA your neighborhood whore?!"

"Yep that, would be the one Hales."

With a look of shock and disgust, Hayley got up and started pacing back and forth.

"Not only did he cheat on my best friend with a whore, but also in your house in the guest room! On the bed that you paid for! I could KILL both of them right NOW!"

"Calm down Hales don't be so dramatic no one's gonna kill anyone. Maybe I'm just not meant to have a happily ever after. You see me, I'm not attractive."

"Don't EVER"

Before she could finish her sentence I stopped her. "

"Let me finish. I'm chubby, my hair is not silky, I'm only 5'3 and have a speech problem. I'm surprised any guy has ever asked me out. I can't say I blame Shawn for going for Sabrina. She looks like Megan Fox for God's Sake."

Tears started flowing down my cheeks at a rapid speed.

"Hales why can't I find happiness? I try to be nice and do the right things, but it never works out for me."

At that moment she walked towards me as I was still sitting on the bed, her face softened as she said

"Babygirl you will find your soul mate, it just takes kissing a lot of frogs to find your prince." I started laughing so hard after Hales said that, she has a thing for all things fairy tales."

"Thanks Hales, but right now I think I'm going to hold off on the prince thing and work on myself. The first thing I'm going work on is loving myself, I've never done that. The second thing is losing weight for me. I want to be a healthier me. Maybe after all those things my prince will find me, I'm done obsessing over finding my happily ever after. It's time I think about me Hales."

"Finally, that's what I've been telling you to do for the longest. Take care of yourself Kk. I'll be here for you anytime you need me day or night. We can go to a therapist, and then join a gym. I haven't worked out in ages."

"Whatever Hales you have the perfect body you don't need to work on your body I said."

"I don't think my body is perfect. I'm going through this with you like it or not. You're stuck with me."

"I wouldn't have it any other way Hales I wouldn't have it any other way."

Right after we hugged Hales kisses my cheek like a maniac, I hear Give it to me, I'm worth it, uhuh I'm worth it, gimme gimme I'm worth it.

"Way to lighten up the mood Hales I said while chuckling."

She got up and started dancing a little before answering her phone.

"One sec its boring Bill."

I nodded my head and mouthed to her to take her time.

"Hello sir, thank you, sir."

The entire time Hales was looking at me rolling her eyes and pretending to yawn. I almost laughed out loud, but I figured if I did Bill her boss would think it was her, and then she could be in trouble. He's a hard-ass who thinks he's superior. How do I know? I met him several times at Hales office parties. He would talk down to other employees but Hales. Reason being was that she was his number one account. The best one in town. Every law firm wanted her. He made sure she was always happy. With her own private office room, and state of the art laptop computer, and television.

Suddenly I was shaken from my thoughts by Hales screaming. At first I thought something was wrong, my heart started beating at lightning speed. I looked up at Hales and seen she was smiling and profusely thanking her boss. After about five more minutes of talking, she hung up and jumped on me. She squeezed me so hard I thought I was gonna suffocate.

Hales let go I can't breathe!"

She finally let go after a minute later.

"I got a huge promotion! a really huge promotion Kk. I'm going to be making seven figures a year! Instead of five!!!"

"Congratulations Hales I'm so proud of you!! Its getting late and you and I both have work tomorrow. Go home and tell Matt your amazing news, I'm fine. I know it wasn't meant for Shawn and I. We were only dating for eight months anyways."

"You sure Kk?"

Yes, I'm 100% sure. I'll call you tomorrow after work."

"You better ok, I'll leave love you. Oh, and Matt is going to get lucky tonight when I get home."

"Rub it in Hales rub it in I said."

After saying our goodbyes, I went and took a hot shower. Fifteen minutes later I'm laying down watching Catfish The T.V. show. I love this show. However, I can never understand how people can fall in love online, and you've never met that person. Nor do you know what that person really looks like. When the hour show ended, I looked at my alarm clock to see that it was 10:00 PM. Time for me to go to sleep. I have patients whose teeth need to be taken care of. The joys of having a hetic job to distract me from this unpleasant heartache.
