Finding Love In A Unorthodox Way

Chapter 5

Work, the gym, and seeing Trina has been my daily routine. I feel so strong, healthy, and happy. I can't ever remember smiling so much in my life! Even my style has changed. No longer am I wearing hoodies, skinny jeans, and worn out t-shirts. I invested in dresses, skirts, and blouses. I still have some of my skinny jeans. You might ask why? and to that I say, who doesn't love a good pair of skinny jeans?

Hales and I haven't talked as much, because she and Matt have been in Colorado for the past week, visiting her family.

I've been catching up on my favorite sitcom EVER Friends! Why isn't this show still on seriously? Joey is a such a stud oh lala. Chandler he always makes me laugh, Ross is so nerdy but cute haha, Monica is a type A, Rachel annoys me, and Phoebe I love her and her awesome song smelly cat!

Just as I finished watching the last episode of Friends, my phone started ringing. I answered it without looking at the caller I.D. assuming it was Hales calling.

"Hey Hales What's up? How's Colorado life treating you?" I said before she could utter a word.

"Hey um I got your number from your dating profile, and thought we could chat and maybe go out on a date." Replied a deep voice.

"Excuse me, I think you have the wrong number."With that I said goodbye. Just as I was about to click the end button he spoke again.

"WAIT please don't hang up. Your name is Kayla right? You work in the dental industry? Your twenty one, and loves music?"

How the heck did he know all this about me. A dating profile. I NEVER would and didn't make one. There is only one person who would do such a thing!

"I'm sorry, but whoever you've been communicating with hasn't been me. Have a great day sir." With that said I hung up.

Furious and offended I called the person who created this mess. She answered on the second ring.

"Hey Kk I'm sorry we haven't talked in the last week. I haven't been able to get away from my family. My mother wants to put her input on the wedding. My sister's want to decide what they want to wear its been chaotic."

Not listening to a word she said. It's ironic that she hadn't had time to talk, but she had the time to make me a DATING PROFILE! I was tryna control my breathing. Breathe in & out deep breaths. Kayla you got this. I was chanting this in my head. Before I begun to speak. Slowly but very loudly.

"YOU. PUT. ME. ON. A. DAMN. DATING. SITE! HAVE. YOU. LOST. YOUR. MIND! Hales I thought you were crazy, now I know I was wrong. You're a certified LUNATIC! HOW COULD YOU DO THE ONE THING I ASKED YOU NOT TO DO!"

"Kk I'm so sorry, I really am. I just have been on a high since getting engaged, and I just wanted you to find your happiness. I knew you wouldn't do it so I did it for you. The guys that hit on you are douche bags. So I decided I wanted to make you a dating profile." Hales replied in a soft tone.

"I told you that the guys on the internet are all PERVERTS and WEIRDO'S! The worst part is that you gave the stranger my PHONE NUMBER!" I continued to yell.

"He seems like a good guy Kk. I've been communicating with him for over a week now. He is the only guy that didn't say anything sexual. Nor did he send you a penis pic." She replied.

"A WEEK! it only took you a WEEK to give a total stranger my NUMBER! WOW Hales WOW!" I said with continuous yelling.

"I am sorry Kk, I do think you should give him a chance though. He's handsome, goofy, and family oriented. The qualities that the brand new you needs."

"You might be right about the qualities I need in a guy. However, I am NOT looking for one on the damn INTERNET. So no I will NOT  go out with this STRANGER!" I said in a angered tone.

"It might help if you viewed the site, maybe you wouldn't think it was so bad. It's called Plenty Of Fish. It's a free dating website. Your username Is Catchme21 and your password is 1994@Kk. You can view his pictures and profile. If you don't like what you see you can delete your profile. By the way his name is Steven. I promise if you don't like it or him, I will NEVER make you another one. I have to go and finish helping my mother cook. I'll talk to you later. I'll be home in a couple of days love you a lot." Said Hales.

With that we ended the call at the same time. I am still FURIOUS with her, but in her own crazy way she did it out of love for me. I will check it out. I know I'll end up deleting it. I DON'T do Internet DATING. That's for old desperate women, or perverted men. Not for a young and vibrant women like me.

Going upstairs into my bedroom, I grab my laptop from my bed, and carried it downstairs into the living room with me. Turning it on and going to the site Hales mentioned. This site looks so corny their logo is actually a fish. How originally, I thought with dripping sarcasm. I typed in my information, and just like that there I was smiling and in my exercising gear. Hales you could've picked a better profile picture, I thought shaking my head. I read my profile and to sum it up my name is Kayla and I'm looking for love. I seen that there were so many tabs on their website. They had a meet me , message , and favorites tab. On my meet me tab was over a thousand guys! My favorites had over a thousand. Last, but not least I only had ONE  message. Hales must have deleted the rest. Or I wasn't much of a catch in their eyes, enough to where they wanted to message and get to know me. Oh well I'm not going to be on here much longer. I curious got the best of me and I clicked on the message. I read his name Steven. This must be the guy Hales was referring to. He apologized for calling me. He wrote that he still wanted to take me out. I clicked on his profile. There was some good stuff on it. He was family oriented like Hales said, goofy haha, and quite handsome. He reminded of that dude Steve O from Jackass. Moreover, Most importantly he loved God!! After reading his profile I thought why not go out with him? I should take a chance on this guy. How bad could he be? Boy was I in for a rude awakening......
