Looking in the mirror this morning, Alex finally asked the question Who Am I?  It is now midnight, he is outside, in the middle of the road, his clothes are on the floor, torn up into shreds, and there are sharp canine teeth penetrating through his mouth and he begins to growl. Now he is asking the question, What Am I?

"What- What the freak are you?" a frightened, shaky small voice says.

The lamp post light flickers on and off like fireflies on a summer night. I cock my head to one side, glaring at him with intimidating eyes. " What am I?" I ask. I bring my hands close to my face, inspecting them closely. Then I look back to the little boy leaning against the wall. I chuckle to myself. " A monster."

The little boy's eyes widen in fear and I cant help but smile.

"Are you afraid, little boy?" I ask in humor.

The boy doesn't answer but his heart does instead. It's beating so hard its making my head throb. And I could rip his body into shreds to satisfy myself from the pain but I decide not to. I can smell his fear and it makes me feel so powerful. I wouldn't want this feeling to end.

" I - please don't do this-please-i just want-" The boy is sobbing uncontrollably now.

" It's horrendous isn't it? Its terrible yet so delightful." I just stare at him, ready to make my move.

He cries even more louder now and I see a distant bright light go on in the house down the road.

"You better shut up boy. I'm warning you. " I  snarl.

The boy swallows hard. " I want my family. Please. Just--I'll do whatever you command. Just please!, " I can hear the sorrow in his voice, the sorrow I felt for a long time.

I hear a police's siren going off down the road. Someone must have called the cops. I have to get out now. If they find me here, I'll be screwed.

" Sorry," I growl at the little boy and tear his head off before he says another word. His head plunges into the nearest window. I eat his guts out and then his liver. They taste sweet. I rummage through his body looking for his bladder. It looks disgusting but taste rather delicious. I lick the blood off of my fingers and dig in for more.

The cops are almost 20 feet away now. I need to hurry up. Fast. But he has the most delicious pancreas I  have ever eaten. I should feast on little boys every night.

Now they're only 10 feet away. Shit. I dump the boy's body into the dumpster next to the abandoned house , careful not be seen by any strangers. The cops are coming up the parking lot fast and  jogging out of the car with guns in their hands. I hide behind the house and try to slow my breath. Then I close my mouth fully, keeping in the the scent of death.

" 695 Alleyway Street off of Lane 52. Reports of monster sighting. The creature is allegedly 7 feet 7 inches tall with bluish leathery skin. " The officer reports into his walkie talkie.

The officers both look around the area, hands glued to their guns, ready to pull it out at any moment. They walk around the parking lot and looked behind the buildings nearest to them. Fools, I think.

"Nothing here," reports one of the officers.

" Are you sure? No old lady would call 911 for a monster sighting as a prank call or anything. She must've saw something real. I mean, c'mon."

"Officer Shack--not to be disrespectful but, that old lady could be on medication. She could be having hallucinations, for all I care. But I can't follow through with this case. There has been many times where people reported UFO sightings or weird creatures staring into their bedroom windows. And when we investigate into these cases, they turn out fake or the people might be physcotic in the brain. I'm sorry to be the one to say this to you, but we cannot be wasting our energy on this foolishness."

I hear a sigh. "We can't back out on these things, Jeff .This is our job. Stick to it. This case needs to be investigated further. Its a direct order. For right now, let's get the hell out of here."

The police get into their cars and drive away. I breathe out deeply, not realizing I was holding my breath. Then I change back to a human being, left naked. I run all the way back home into the night, satisfied.
