We woke up the next day at exactly 8:30 in the morning and got dressed. Amanda wearing Campus Crew sweats and I was wearing track pants with a plain grey shirt with a brown American eagle sweater. The perfect outfits for plane travel. Amanda's and my hair were up in ponytails and Shane, like always wearing a black shirt with a pair of cargo shorts. We also did some last minute packing; I packed my laptop in my bag that I am taking on the plane as a carry-on. We made sure we also had our passports with us so we can get on the plane and we moved our luggage into my parents’ room.

"Are ready to go?" Shane asked Amanda and me.

"Yep," we both answered, and we walked to the lobby, checked ourselves out and waited outside for a cab.

When the yellow and black cab showed up we got in and told the cab driver that we wanted to go to the airport. It seemed like a ten-minute drive. We went into the airport bought our tickets, went through customs and made it to our boarding station with one hour to spare. We sat down and waited to board our plane.

When the flight attendant told us it was time to board the plane, families with children were asked to board first. There were lots of parents with children in strollers and toddlers hanging onto their mother's hand. I don't have my parents to hang onto anymore. I haven’t had them for a long time. They have been there but not for me, so it felt like. Sure they care about me, that's why they killed that man. I haven’t forgotten. We used to be so close but now, we are so far away.

The flight attendant called all the other passengers to line up. We stood up and got in line with our passports and plane tickets in our hands for the flight attendant to collect. After the flight attendant collected our tickets and stamped our passports, we walked through a long tunnel until we reached the door to the plane.

There were three rows, one in the middle and one on each side; there was a small movie screen every five or six rows. Amanda, Shane and I walked to our row 12A. I was in the middle of the plane on one of the side rows. Amanda got the window seat and I got the middle seat and Shane got the aisle seat. The seats were blue with small different colour shape design, with little legroom. I grabbed my phone and put my bag under my seat, and called my mom:

"Hi mom," I said once she picked up.

                "Hi sweetheart" She said.

"We are just about to take off. So I called you... just like you wanted me too."

"Thank-you, I'm glad to know you are safe. Have a good flight I look forward to talking to you when you land," My mom said, "I love you. Bye."

"I love you too mom, bye," I responded then hung up and placed my phone back in my backpack. That is what most of our conversations are like now. We never have something to talk about anymore.

The plane started up. The pilot asked if everyone could turn off his or her phones. I reach back into my backpack, flip my phone open then hold the disconnect button for three seconds and the screen of the phone goes black. Tucking it back in the front pocket my backpack, I shift my attention to the flight attendants who are doing their usual plane safety demonstration. We reached the runway and I leaned back on my chair while the plane gains speed.
