Becca POV
It's been a few days since Axl found out about what Morgan was doing to me and let me tell you, he fixed it immediately. I went to Sue's wrestlerettes on Wednesday which was fine, kinda weird but nonetheless, it made Sue happy. Today's the big game, Orson vs Cascade in the start of the season. Normally, these two rivals face off later in the season but due to scheduling errors, they're meeting tonight.
"Axl, Becca, you are going to be late!" Frankie calls from the other side of the closed door. I smile and pull my skinny jeans up my legs. Axl stays on his bed, his tie not properly done neither is his button up. My crop top falls on my body perfectly, stopping above my stomach. I grab my blue chucks and lace them up, intentionally kicking Axl with my cast.
He groans and turns onto his stomach, his face buried in his pillows. "Axl, stand up." I sigh, watching as he forces himself to stand up fully, giving me a very dirty look. I smile sweetly at him, re-buttoning his shirt quickly. "It amazes me that you cannot tie your own tie yet." I comment, twirling the silky material through my fingers to loop it together.
"My mom does it for me usually." He explains, pushing my hair from my face. This morning, Axl came out of his house with his tie untied and his shirt not tucked in, which was even lazy for him. "When are we doing it?" He asks, referring to the pre-game ritual we usually do. I shrug, picking up his varsity jacket before handing it to him.
He pulls it on, watching me as I pull a snapback on so the snaps are in the front of my head to keep the hair from my face. "Later, right now we have to get you to the game." I say, pushing him out the door to the living room. I grab my bag from the table, waving to Frankie who is meeting me with everyone at the game after I drop Axl off.
We walk outside and I unlock my BMW, sitting in the drivers seat. Axl slumps in the passengers seat, looking at his hands. I look at him through the corner of my eye, unsure of why he is acting like this. I turn the radio on, some random rock song comes on that Axl must know due to the fact his hands are tapping along to the beat.
"What's up with you?" I ask, seeing his eyes flicker from his hands to my face. He shrugs and kicks his feet up on my dashboard, a groan emitting from my lips. "Is it something I did? Is it the game? Axl just tell me." I push him, his teeth gnawing at his bottom lip as he contemplates my words. Shockingly, he sits up and turns to face me.
"I think I love Morgan and it's weird because she did stuff to you that I'd normally kill someone for but she's different. She makes my stomach flip when she smiles and she has this laugh that is the cutest thing and she does this thing when she gets me to understand something in math and it makes me want to do better just for her. I do love her." He spews, a nervous look on his face once again as he falls silent.
I nod and turn down the schools road. "Look, Axl. Ignore everything she did to me, she makes you happy and that's all that matters. If you love her then you should tell her, it's better if she knows instead of her having to guess if you do because chances are she loves you just as much back." He grins at my words as I park at the front of the school.
"Meet me in the locker room before the game?" He asks me. I nod, shooing him from my car. He flashes me a big smile and jogs into the school, looking at me one last time before the door shuts behind him. I sigh, pulling into an actual parking spot before exiting my car to begin my short walk to the football field.
It's a quick walk, just around the left wing of the school. Frankie and Mike are standing in line when I get there while Brick is sitting next to them with his face in a book and Sue nowhere to be found. "Where is Sue?" I ask, leaning into Mike for a hug. He holds me there for a minute, looking around him as if he isn't sure who I'm talking about.
