Chapter 1:
Casey was extremely nervous as she got out of her mom's car and headed into the theatre. Today was her first rehearsal for "The Little Mermaid", her first show at BCB Theatre, and Casey was playing none other then Ariel herself. Casey was short, she had long curly black hair, and bright green eyes. She entered the rehearsal studio and looked around. There in a circle sat the cast. She scanned them all quickly. They all seemed to know each other except for a tall blonde girl. She chose to sit next to her. "I'll pick you up at eight." Casey's mom said. "Alright bye." Casey nodded to her mom. "Hi my name is Casey." she said turning to the blonde girl. "Hi, I'm Karen." The girl smiled. "Who. are you playing?" she asked. "Well isn't the red hair obvious enough? I'm Ariel." Casey laughed. "Oh, sorry. I should've guessed that one." Karen laughed. "So who are you playing?" Casey asked. "Flounder." She replied. "That's awesome! Wow, looks like we're gonna be besties!" Casey smiled. "Yeah, looks like it." Karen laughed. Just then the main door opened. Casey turned to look to see who had arrived. A tall, tan, blonde boy entered. He looked about Casey's age, sixteen, but he was really tall. "Collin!" a boy stood up and clapped him on the back. "Hey Steve!" Collin nodded the day down next to him. Casey held her breath. Collin was attractive. "Everyone knows each other..." Karen interrupted Casey's thoughts. "Uh, yea... I'm new here." Casey admitted. "Really? So am I!" Karen replied. "Karen, this could be the start of a beautiful mermaid, fish, friendship." Casey smiled. Karen laughed.
When the director finally quieted everyone down she had the cast go around the circle introducing themselves and saying which part they would be playing. When it finally got to Collin he announced he'd be playing Prince Eric. Casey's heart jumped for joy. The rehearsal was over quickly and when Casey got into the car she couldn't help but sigh. The next rehearsal was in two days, Thursday, and she honestly couldn't wait. Karen seemed super nice, and then there was Collin... Thursday came quickly and then the next rehearsal came even quicker. As the rehearsals continued Casey got to know more and more of the cast. Nate, who was the chef, was really sweet and was Steve's (Sebastian) brother. Marie (Ursula) was extremely kind and funny. And Rachel (Skuttle) was also really nice and hilariously funny. Weeks and weeks went by and finally it was opening night. "Nervous?" Collin asked Casey. "A little." she admitted as she played with her shiny green mermaid tail skirt. "Come here, I wanna show you something that always calms me down." Collin said holding out his hand. Casey blushed and took it. He lead her to the stage, the curtain was close and Casey could hear hundreds of excited voices echoing from in front of the curtain. "Oh how is this going to help me?" she whispered. "Shhh, come here." he said. Then lead her to the middle of the stage. He laid down on the ground. "What?" Casey asked confused. "Just lay down." Collin said rolling his eyes. Casey stated at him the shrugged an laid down next to him. "What exactly are we doing?" she asked turning her head to look at him. "Just listen, listen to the audience." Collin replied as he turned his head to face her. Casey closed her eyes and listened. "They are having normal conversations... So what?" she said after a minute. "Exactly. Normal conversations. Normal people. Nothing scary, no one scary." Collin explained. Casey stated into his eyes. It was dark on stage but they were laying so close she could see every detail on his face. They laid there for a couple of seconds just looking at each other. To Casey it felt like a life time. "Guys! What are you doing!??" A voice said. Casey and Collin sat up and looked to see Karen standing on the side in her flounder dress. "Nothing, uh talking." Collin said standing up quickly. "I gotta go... Makeup..." He muttered and went backstage. Casey stood up too and walked over to Karen. "We were all looking for you two." Karen said. "Karen, I have to tell you something...." Casey whispered. "Yes, what is it?" "I... I like Collin." Casey said quickly.
