Chapter 2:
"I knew it!" Karen smiled. "What? Was it that obvious?" Casey asked. "Nah, I just know things." Karen winked. "Don't worry girl, your secret is safe with me." "Thanks, well I supposed I should finish getting ready." Casey said. Then the two headed backstage. Opening night was a great success. Everyone loved the show and Casey got great feedback from the audience after. Casey couldn't help but stare at Collin. He was so good with the little kids after the show. Smiling and talking with them.
The next day was Saturday. This meant two shows in one day and a long lunch break in between. The first show went by quickly and then it was time for lunch. Casey walked back stage to get something and noticed Collin sitting on the stairs to the costume room eating a sandwich, alone. "Hey Collin." she smiled and sat on the stairs next to him. "Oh hey Casey." he said. "Want half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?" "Sure thanks." she said taking half. "I just wanted to say thanks for helping me yesterday." She bit into the sandwich. "This jelly is amazing." she exclaimed with her mouth this full. "Sorry" she blushed with embarrassment. "Thanks." Collin laughed. "It's homemade, I made it myself. Anyway your welcome. I always find that just realizing the audience is full of real people just like you makes it a lot less scary." "Really? You cook?" Casey asked. "Is that such a shock?" he asked. "No... Actually yes." Casey laughed. "It is perfectly natural for a man to cook." He said pretending to be offended. "Yeah, not a man of your height." Casey joked. "Oh I see how it is shortie." Collin teased. "Shortie? I'm completely average height! Your the abnormally tall one." Casey laughed. "Can't help it. But hey I'm also tan, blonde, and hot." Collin smirked. Casey laughed even though she completely agreed with him. "Hey Casey, Collin five minutes until the doors open." Katie, the director, came backstage to announce. "Thank you." Casey said. "Well I do suppose we should get ready." Collin said practically. "
The show went by again flawlessly and Sunday, closing night, came far too quickly. The cast party was that night after the last show. "Well... It's the last show." Karen sighed as her and Casey got changed into their costumes after lunch break. "Yes..." Casey said sadly. "Look... Karen you've been and awesome friend. This theatre was new to me and Ariel was my first lead. I was scared and nervous... And I just wanted to say I'm going to miss you." Casey sighed. "Casey! Don't make me cry! It'll ruin my makeup!" Karen said. "Only in the theatre." Casey laughed. They both looked at each other then at the same time ran to hug each other. "I'll miss you too." Karen said. "Two minutes until places!" Katie said peeping her head in the dressing room. "Well, ready Flounder?" Casey sniffled. "Ready Ariel." Karen smiled.
The show was over and Casey was already feeling that "post show depression". BCB Theatre was unlike any other theatre she had done. Everyone was a family there. There were no divas, no catty back stabbing girls, it was a family. And Casey would miss it. "So are you auditioning for the Christmas show?" Karen asked Casey at the cast party. "Yea, I think I will." Casey smiled staring at Collin. "I hear Collin's going for the lead guy." Karen said catching Casey's eye. "Really?" Casey said not really listening. "Case! Would you stop staring at Collin!" Karen whispered. "Uh, sorry." Casey shook her head. "Yeah, I know he told me that he was going for the lead guy." "I'm excited. It's and oringinal and I really hope we both get in!" Karen said excitedly. "Me too!" Casey said looking at her friend. "Me too." she repeated now looking at Collin.
