Chapter 3
Auditions for the Christmas show came quicker then Casey had thought they would. "Casey!" Karen squealed and hugged her friend tightly. "Karen!" Casey smiled and hugged her back. "Come on, let's get a seat together!" Karen said smiling. They both took seats next to each other in the audience. Just before auditions were about to begin Collin entered the room. Casey felt her heart leap. He looked at her and then chose to sit on the other side of the theatre with Steve. Casey's heart dropped and she sighed. "Alright, alright welcome everyone and thank you for coming out to audition for my show!" A short woman said. "My name is Roxy and I will be directing this show! Some of you know me as the costume designer, those of you from little mermaid." she said winking at Casey and Karen. "But I also direct, and I want you to all have a fun time! Best of luck to all of you." then she say back down. When finally it was Casey's turn to read her heart was pounding, not only was she the last to read, but she was reading for the lead girl... With Collin. "We got this." He whispered to her before they went on.
They read the whole scene and the audience clapped. Then Roxy dismissed everyone saying they should all hear back in a week. "You were great!" Karen said as she and Casey left. "You and Collin were great." she added winking. "Thanks, so were you." Casey said. "thanks! So how are you and Collin?" Karen asked. "we... Well I haven't exactly heard from him." Casey replied. "Oh, we'll hey if you both get in this you'll get to see him more often." Karen pointed out. "True." Casey sighed. "So is your mom picking you up?" Karen asked. "Nope, I got my lisence." Casey said holding out her car keys. "When?" Karen asked shocked. "Like a week ago. I posted it on Facebook." Casey shrugged. "I NEED a Facebook! Please convince my mom that I need a facebook?" Karen asked dragging Casey over to her mom. "Mom, Casey has to tell you something." Karen said. "Uh, Karen needs a Facebook." Casey laughed. "Oh really? Why?" Karen's mom asked. "So... Uh she can keep in touch with me and the people from little mermaid!" Casey explained. "Oh, well... Maybe that would be good. I'll think about it." her mom said then she turned to talk to some of the other moms. "Oh my Gosh, Casey! You are seriously magical!" Karen grinned. "Thanks?" Casey laughed. "Hello Casey." Collin said behind her. Casey turned around. "Oh hi Collin..." she said awkwardly. "Where's my hug?" he said breaking the ice. Casey smiled and him tightly, pressing her head against his chest. "Where's my hug?" Karen interrupted. "Oh Karen..." Casey laughed. And then Collin hugged Karen.
The next couple of days all Casey could do was sit by the phone and wait. She really just wanted to hear back from the audition. Even though she didn't expect to get the lead, because hundreds of girls auditioned, she wanted to get the news over with. Eventually the phone rang. "Hello?" Casey answered. "Hi Casey? This is Mrs. Smith." A friendly voice said. Mrs. Smith was the mom of a cute little girl named Max who really looked up to Casey. She was also producing the Christmas show. "Hi Mrs. Smith! Yup this is Casey." she said. "Okay great! Well I have good news! You got Jan in the Christmas show!" she said excitedly. "I... I what?" Casey was shocked. "You got Jan! You got the lead!" Mrs. Smith repeated. "Oh my gosh... Thank you!" Casey grinned widely. "You're the first person we called so don't tell anyone until tomorrow when we get done all the phone calls." Mrs. Smith said. "Sure, no problem! Thanks again." Casey replied. "You deserved it! Talk to you later, bye bye." Mrs. Smith said. "Goodbye." Casey said then hung up. As soon as she got off the phone Casey screamed. Her mom ran in the room. "What, what is it?" he asked breathlessly. "I got Jan! I got the lead!" Casey cheered.
