*flashback*

“You sit on your God damn ass all day-“

“Excuse me? I look after our child while you work! I cook, I clean-“

“I’m sure you do love. You’re a selfish bitch, you know that!”

“Than if you think that why are we even together?”

“Go fuck yourself, oh and you can have the kid.”

Chelsea’s POV:

“Large cappuccino”, I called out behind the counter.

“Hey baby”, I said as I watched my beautiful, 15 year old daughter Liah walk into the café.

“Hey mum”, she smiled walking behind the counter and giving me a hug. I wrapped my arm around her and kissed the side of her head. I noticed that she really pulled off the school uniform she was wearing.

“How was school?” I asked sliding her a plate of food to eat.

“Ey, school is school”, she said stopping the plate and smiling. “Thanks mum, I’m gunna get changed”, smiling she walked towards the café’s bathroom.

“Chels, is Liah performing tonight?” My best friend Abbie asked joining me by my side.

“Yeah”, I smiled. “She just got here, she’s in the bathroom.

“No worries oh and can you make a small mocha?”

“I’m on it”, I winked at her. “Where’s Paige?” I asked once Liah stood in the corner behind me whilst I made the mocha.

“She went home, I said I wanted to help out here so she’ll be here tonight”, she began eating what I had made her.

“Chop chop than, put that apron on”, I said throwing her apron over my shoulder to her.

“Geez mum”, she said nearly dropping her food.

“Small Mocha”, I just smiled and handed it to the customer.

“What do you want me to do?”

“Can you clean table 6 than do the dishes in the back? Sorry”, I cringed.

“It’s fine”, she laughed not caring and making a start on her tasks.

That’s what I loved about Liah, she was so easy going, she wasn’t complicated. I’m grateful for our relationship, we are inseparable except when I have to work and she was at school or out with friends. But everyone in our town knew us as mother-daughter, best friends.

That night

“Hi everyone, I’m Liah as you’d probably know. And I’ll be singing a song I wrote called ‘B-e-a-utfiul’ and I hope you like it”, I leaned on the counter and watched Liah interact with the audience at the coffee shop as she began her gig.

Liah has blonde hair like me and a huge smile. She’s also short like me. She doesn’t have my eyes, they’re his. When I look into her eyes, I always think about him. Chase that is.

I couldn’t help but smile as I heard Liah sing. We definitely came from a musical family and it really showed in her voice.

Liah finished her performance and everyone clapped. I was so proud of her. She tended to be a quiet girl and kept to herself a lot.
