"I saw Iverson today."

Bella was jolted awake from her drug induced sleep at the mentioned of the name and of course the voice that spoke the name. She drowsily looked around the empty room until she spotted the tall frame at the door, partially covered in shadow.

Her captor.

She struggled against her restraint, this time a little weaker than the last. She'd lost feelings in her arms that were chained on either side of her except for the burn in her wrists that was inflicted by the metal chain Daniel used to bound her to the basement wall.

Her butt was numbed from sitting in that one position as minutes turned to hours and hours to days. Her right leg was still swollen even after ten days, she allowed him to clean the wound to avoid infection but refused to let him stitch her up as he suggested, he was the one who shot her in the first place.

"I saw Iverson today." He repeated as if she didn't hear him and walked further into the room with a food and water flask in hand.

Fear seized Bella's heart as her eyes focused on his split and swollen lips.

"What did you do to him?" She tiredly rasped out, trying to play down the panic building up in her chest.

She would never have thought Daniel was capable of hurting her, yet he shot her and then had her chained up like an animal. She had enough ideas of what he was capable of now and it scares the hell out of her. In fact she was still having a hard time wrapping her head around everything this dark Daniel was capable of.

Luckily the bullet he fired had only grazed her leg and pilled off some flesh before lodging in their entrance door. It hurt like hell. It did made her collapse and stopped her escape so Daniel either had a very good aim or a very bad one and she would rather not find out again.

Not like it was possible anyway, she was losing hope on ever getting out of this situation. Not by fighting, she'd realized that after three days. She understood what tick and what triggers him now.

"If what you're asking is if I killed him, the answer is not yet. The temptation was great though."

A frightened chillness went down Bella's spine at his words. "Please Daniel, leave him alone. I'll do anything you want just leave him out of this."

He stared at her for a moment and she tried to swallow down her fear so it didn't bubble up to the surface.

How had she not noticed this haunted look in his eyes before?

"It should be him concerned about you but he is not. He was on his way to the airport when I saw him." Daniel said and paused for his words to sink in.

"He left you and he's never coming back."

What? She felt the pieces of her heart dropped into the pit of her stomach and sadness shrouded. He really left?

It wasn't like she had been expecting him to be out there searching for her, he probably didn't care she was missing but he was leaving Metropolis altogether? He promised her he wasn't going to leave!

She bit down on her lip until she tasted blood and she kept biting. It was either that or screaming and she still remembered what Daniel had told her when she first opened her eyes to find herself all chained up.

Apparently she had been unconscious when he brought her in, she have no idea where they were, only that it was a basement and she had screamed her lungs out upon opening her eyes.
