Wonder began in the fairytales I carried like treasures
a crown and gown became the greatest pleasures
velvet lavender shimmering as it caught the light
twirling, skirt rising round me like a bird in flight
faster and faster, creating dizzying joy
Yes, that gown was my favourite toy
A ballerina and a princess all the same
to a little girl with a whole world to claim
leaping and turning down the hall
living her life with no worries at all
a head held by balancing books
And trust me, it's harder than it looks.
