(The media is Caroline.)
Carmen had to go home and get Caroline and Alia and I started over to Julia's. Julia loved her dad and we knew it broke her heart that he was abandoning her. Alia and I got there and Carmen came running up the street a minute later with Caroline on her back. We knocked and George opened the door and let us in.
"Julia's in the kitchen." He told us and went upstairs.
Carmen put Cary down and put her hair up in a ponytail. We walked in and saw Julia at the kitchen table with Lila and Brian. She was nodding. Lila smiled at us and Julia turned around to see Cary leaping at her. Caroline hugged Julia and Julia hugged her back and smiled. Julia set her down and hugged all of us.
I handed her some homework and Alia handed her the elective homework.
"Thanks guys." She said. We went up to her room and she told us the latest new.
"So as you know from the texts, my dad isn't coming back to New York. He found a woman named Laura. Something happened and she's pregnant with my dads baby." Julia told us. I was shocked.
"He's only been there for two months!! That's insane!!" I exclaimed. That's really immature. Leave all your kids for some lady across the country.
Julia nodded.
"And the worst part is, he's getting married to her. And we're not even invited unless we find our own way there. He's cutting all ties to us off." Julia said. She choked at the end and a few tears leaked out of her eyes.
It's bad enough that her mom is gone, but now her dad?
"Ugh!! That's so immature!! Okay emergency karaoke night. I don't care it's a Friday night." Alia said firmly.
"And then a sleepover at my house." Carmen said. Julia smiled and we agreed. We decided that we would meet at Carmen's house in one hour. We all left and when I got home I put on some black skinny jeans and a pair of black heels. I put my pajamas, a charger and a brush and all that jazz into a bag. I slung it over my shoulder and went to the bathroom to put some make up on. When I was satisfied with my make-up, I curled my hair as much as I was willing to and left for Carmen's.
When I got there, Alia was there but we were still waiting for Julia. She showed up five minutes later with a back pack slung on her shoulder.
"Let's go!!" Alia yelled. Caroline gave everyone hugs. Carmen was leaving her with a sitter until we got back. I slipped my phone into my pocket and we left. Carmen realized that we would need a ride and Julia smiled.
"I got that covered. I wanted to see how long it took you guys to figure out that we are twelve." And she pointed to Lila in her car in Carmen's driveway.
"You really think of everything don't ya, Jules?" Carmen asked. She smiled at us and we got in Lila's car.
"Thanks Lilac." Julia told her.
"Yeah thanks!" Alia, Carmen, and I chorused together.
"No problem guys." Lila smiled. When we got there Julia told her that she would text George to come pick them up. George had just gotten his license.
"Ok Peach. Have fun guys!!" She told us and drove away. We went inside and Alia immediately went over to the sign-up list.
"Lia!! I don't think I'm gonna sing. I'm not very good." I called to her. She waved behind her dismissing me and continued writing. She talked to the stage manager and waved us over.
"Mr. Rogers is letting us on after two acts ahead of us go." Alia flashed the guy Mr. Rogers a smile and we went to find a table. Carmen was wearing what she wore to school, only with white heels. Alia was wearing the same shorts, but put on a blouse and some heels. Julia had put on a flowy white tank top and white flats.
We were called up and I found out we were singing Who Are You by Fifth Harmony. Ugh. I hated this song, but I knew Julia loved it so I let it go. She needed this.
We got up on stage and started.
Alia sang the first verse,
   Monday you sent me flowers
Tuesday made me feel stupid
Wednesday the world was ours
Thursday you didn't prove it
Friday fell back in love
Saturday we didn't talk
Sunday you said you needed space
I sang the pre-chorus,
Do you miss me? Am I crazy?
Am I losing hold of your love baby?
Either you want me or you don't
I need to know, I need to know
Julia belted out the chorus,
Who are you today?
Will you be the sun
Or the pouring rain?
Who are you tomorrow?
Will you make me smile
Or just bring me sorrow?
Who are you gonna be
When I'm lost and I'm scared?
Who are you gonna be
When there's nobody there?
Who are you today?
'Cause I am still the same
Carmen took the second verse,
Monday you had my heart
Tuesday you had me screaming
Wednesday we didn't part
Thursday you didn't mean it
Friday I shook it off
Saturday you got it wrong
Sunday I said I needed space
Alia took the next pre-chorus,
Do you miss me? Am I crazy?
Am I losing hold of your love baby?
Either you want me or you don't
I need to know, I need to know
And I got the chorus,
Who are you today?
Will you be the sun
Or the pouring rain?
Who are you tomorrow?
Will you make me smile
Or just bring me sorrow?
Who are you gonna be
When I'm lost and I'm scared?
Who are you gonna be
When there's nobody there?
Who are you today?
'Cause I am still the same
Who are you? Who are you?
Julia got the bridge,
It's so strange how the same thing
Can make you feel so right
And bring you so much pain.
It's so strange how the same face
Can you make you love until it hurts.
Where do we go? (where do we go?)
I need to know (I need to know)
We all sang the last chorus together,
Who are you today? (today)
Will you be the sun
Or the pouring rain? (the pouring rain)
Who are you tomorrow?
Will you make me smile
Or just bring me sorrow?
Who are you gonna be
When I'm lost and I'm scared?
Who are you gonna be
When there's nobody there?
Who are you today? (today)
'Cause I am still the same
The same
We all got off the stage breathless. We got some applause and we went back to our table. We ordered some food and water and talked. Alia decided that she and Julia would sing a duet. Julia refused and Alia hugged and said that she would be in the bathroom.
She came back ten minutes later with a guitar in her hand. She shoved it in Julia's hands and dragged her onstage. She placed a microphone in front of herself and in front of Julia. Julia was paler than usual.
Alia whispered something to Julia and she nodded. Julia started strumming the guitar. Alia took the first verse nodding encouragingly at Julia to keep going.
Good morning, you're leaving
I'll see you in the evening
My best friend till the end
My better half no pretend
Our language is sacred
No people try to solve it
New adventures on the way

You and me together
Take on the world forever
I know all your secrets
And I promise you I'm gonna keep them
I'll be there when you are feeling clueless
You and me, oh yeah we're seamless
Woah oh, yeah, woah oh
Alia stopped and Julia took over.
We're klutzy, but so lucky
That I always have you to catch me
We're partners in crime
You're stuck with me your whole life
So different, out of our minds
From a planet that's hard to find
Every second every day

You and me together
Take on the world forever
I know all your secrets
And I promise you I'm gonna keep them
I'll be there when you are feeling clueless
You and me, oh yeah we're seamless

You're right by my side whenever I need you
Through the hardest times
I'll be there for you
At the crack of dawn when the moon is gone
I won't be hard to find
Cuz you and me, oh yeah we're seamless

You and me together
Take on the world forever
I know all your secrets
And I promise you I'm gonna keep them
I'll be there when you are feeling clueless
You and me, oh yeah we're seamless
Woah oh, woah oh
Julia finished the last note and took a bow with Alia.
"See? Now that's confidence my friend." Alia said coming to the table. The food was delivered half-way through their performance and we dug in. A little while later, Julia texted her brother to come pick us up.
George met us out front and took us back to Carmen's. Caroline, who was feeling left out, demanded that we do a special performance just for her. Carmen paid the sitter and we started to sing to her. She fell asleep two songs later and Carmen took her up to her bed. Julia had a book out and was reading and Alia was studying lyrics. I was looking at my Instagram and we fell asleep around one.
