"Yes, I am a dreamer; for a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world." ― Oscar Wilde
"I can't believe you lost them, again."
"I didn't expect them to break your chant."
"Touché."
"Same to you."
Jesslyn chuckled lightly as Cecilia tried to investigate the matter; the two of them stood in the dark room as Cecilia casted chants around the room, searching for any trace that would explain their disappearance. Leaning against the wall, Jesslyn carefully observed the master mage do her work, at how her eyes flickered with curiosity and how she hummed when she found something rather... interesting.
The room bore no signs of struggle and even the very sheets on her queen-sized bed were still ruffled partially, which showed them that they were there; it made them wonder as to how they were able to vanish into thin air.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Jesslyn spoke out loud as she pushed off the wall.
Cecilia smirked as she veered her gaze to dashing brunette, "I thought you're already engaged?"
"Not that," Jesslyn chuckled nervously, but the thought crossed her mind once, "I meant about the kids," she pointed as approached the bed and observed the sheets, "It's always them for some reason."
Cecilia hummed as she closed her glowing palm, "Well, at least we know they have a connection."
"But what is it?" Jesslyn queried as she approached the window and opened it; the clouds have spread across the sky and blocked the moon. Cecilia observed the brunette and noticed the look in her eyes – the very look that told her that she was having deep thoughts; she wanted to ask her, but she did not wish to jest about the situation.
Jesslyn closed the window once again and sighed before she met her friend's blank stare, which made her raise a brow at her; she watched as she pocketed her hands inside her long, red leather jacket before she shrugged at her.
"Shall we then?" Cecilia asked as she turned and walked out the door; Jesslyn trailed behind her, then closed the door shut. "I suggest we hover around the area," she spoke as she took out her glasses and plopped them on before she opened her palm for a chant, "Are you ready?"
Jesslyn nodded, "I want to find them before we lose visual from the rain."
Like air, they vanished in the dark as Jesslyn found herself afloat; her body hovered several feet above the institution that was dimly lit with just the streetlamps that guided the school's pathways. The clouds above her drummed lowly as she stared up at it, hoping that the rain would not fall onto them any time soon.
"I'll take the west," Cecilia spoke as closed her palm, "The chant only lasts two hours," she cautioned Jesslyn, who nodded in acknowledgement, "You'll be brought back to the room when it stops."
With that, Cecilia zoomed away at breakneck speed as Jesslyn watched her disappear; a lop-sided grin emerged from her lips as she shook her head. She loves being on top of things, Jesslyn thought as she began her flight towards the east side of the institution; she did not expect for them to disappear that fast after what just occurred a few nights ago.
"I leave them in your care."
"I wonder if you made the right decision," Jesslyn mumbled as she recalled Athena's words as much as she recalled the warm smile across her face. Guilt crossed her heart as she could feel her disappointed gaze direct itself upon her; the look itself would make her shatter – the trust they built would have vanished.
