"The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off." – Gloria Steinem

"Class dismissed."

Steering her gaze away from the cloudless sky, Katherine took her bag and stood up; the wind rushed through the open wind and felt as though it was trying to speak. Friday dawned upon her without her even noticing; her long hours consisted mostly of nothing.

Passing through the door, she took a deep breath in hopes of seeing that the coast was clear; she has been avoiding the paths the Fae had been taking, still reluctant to meet her. The guilt inside her had yet to recede, but she was certain that nothing could ever plug the hole it had created in her pride.

Walking down the hallways, murmurs erupted as they saw men in black clothing march down the hallways and eventually stood at each classroom door; they wondered why they were there and noted their arsenal – their guns provoked the crowd.

What are they doing? Katherine wondered as she passed by a guard and took a good sniff; his scent smelt genuine – the need to protect them was great. She could not understand why there was a need to protect them when they knew that they only had one target; her instincts told her that it was Jesslyn's suggestion as a precaution.

Sighing silently, she rounded the corner and approached her class for the day; she was hoping it would end sooner. Her mind ran elsewhere and wondered why she was so easily distracted by the wind; for the whole day, she could not help but stare at out the window and even got herself chided for doing so.

For the next hour, she had done nothing but watch the leaves dance in the forest as much as her eyes lingered on a stray auburn leaf that glided in the stream of air. Like a child, she could not steer her eyes away as though it was the most interesting thing in the world; the auburn leaf flew away in the distance and disappeared from her sight.

A distant ringing woke her from her daydream as she saw the people around her get up from their seats; she leant her cheek against her palm and watched everyone walk out the room. A part of her wanted to stay and watch the forest dream, but even she had things to do; standing, she took her bag and left the room with her head hung low.

"Are you purposely avoiding me?"

Jerking her head up, a pair of dark amber eyes greeted her as much as she had her arms crossed across her dark blue vest; there was a hint of mischief in her eyes as much it radiated much concern. Katherine kept returned her gaze to the floor and walked out the classroom without addressing her.

"What's wrong, wolfie?" Hailey questioned as she reached out to Katherine, but she fell short out of reach as she picked up the pace.

Katherine huffed out of her nose, "I said don't call me that."

"Well how else will I get your attention?" Hailey scoffed playfully as she went into stride with the tall blonde, "Will you please stop and look at me?"

Katherine clenched her fist and halted her step, then turned to her; she was uncertain what she had wanted from her, but she knew one thing – that she looked really pathetic in front of those beautiful dark ambers that almost looked golden.

"At least tell me what's in your mind," Hailey gave a small smile as she tried to understand her; a part of her wanted to come into contact with her skin, just to know what she felt.

Katherine looked away for a moment, "I don't know."

"You don't know what's in your mind?" Hailey nearly giggled at her response, "Are you inside someone else's head?"
