Darkness covered her as much as it was the only thing she saw. There were no sounds, no light, not even air touched her skin; her heartbeat pulsated to the unknown. Only the void stood in front of her, where it mercilessly embraced her full on, nearly eating her alive.

Standing in the abyss of her mind, Katherine looked around as though searching for an escape; calmly, her eyes veered into the darkness and wondered what it possibly wanted from her. She searched her mind, hoping to recall what happened before she blacked out from the battle, but she could not find her memories.

Taking a step forward, she kept looking around in hopes of finding an answer to this supernatural phenomena; she felt no fear, no hate, and no sympathy – not a single speck of emotion. Step by step, she delved deeper into the void as she wondered how or why she was there; she knew not why she could not find the world she departed from not too long ago.

With each step forward, she found a small speck of light pierce the endless void that she paced in; it made her stop and stare, wondering what it could be. Without a second thought, she ventured towards this speck of light and as she got closer, it grew bigger and bigger until it nearly swallowed her whole.

A wall of bright light stood before her as she gaze into the endless seems of nothing; it was just like the black void behind her – empty and nothing more. Staring at it, she felt a wave of calm over her as if the heaven's embraced her like she had felt the touch of a mother who looked lovingly at her new born child; it was peaceful, serene and tranquil at the same time.

Reaching out, her finger grazed the thin white veil and felt a warm sensation envelope her that overlap the coldness the abyss had offered her; her body felt warmer after the long walk in the dark, wondering how it was all possible with just a single touch.

Looking back, she can hear the faint whisper of the void call out to her as if to tell her to walk on forward; there was a soft gust of wind that touched her cheek which made her feel brave enough to enter this blinding void. Taking a deep breath, Katherine lifted her foot to take a step forward, but before she could even pass through the thin white veil, a figure in white, yet faceless stood in front of her within the veil of light.

What are you doing here?

I... don't know...

You're not supposed to be here!

What are you talking about?

Kathie, get out!

Thunder came with this mysterious man as the light slowly grew brighter and brighter, which made Katherine raise her arms up to shield herself; slowly, her eyes embraced the light and found herself blinded. It engulfed her entire being as she suddenly felt a deep pain around her body, which made her wonder what just happened to her.

"Wolfie," Hailey whispered as Katherine slowly slid her eyelids up, "Thank God you're finally awake," she exhaled in relief as tears threatened to spill at the corner of her eyes, "You worried me to death."

Katherine looked around as she noticed the bright ceiling above her, "Where... am... I?"

"You're in the infirmary," Hailey responded as she looked into her grey eyes that looked lost, "You've been out for two days now," she told her as Katherine found her eyes, "I thought I was going to lose you."

Katherine noted the quiver in her voice at how it sounded like she was about to break; a pang thrust itself through her heart as she felt ashamed of what she made her feel – guilt ran amok in her chest. Reaching for her hand, Katherine squeezed Hailey's little hand as she brought her lowered gaze to her and gave a small, reassuring smile.
