"I AM SO READY TO WIN THE GAME LATER!" I was sat on Jimmy's very comfortable leather couch with my legs crossed and a blanket wrapped around my shoulders.
It was Saturday late afternoon around 3pm in New York, and it was also weekend which meant it was my favorite day because it meant a full on game night - a thing we've been doing for over a year where we hang out at Jimmy's apartment and play video games most of the night. We decided to change from Nintendo this weekend, Jimmy chose the PlayStation 4 because he bought a few more games for it, I talked to him about 2 weeks ago debating whether or not I should get a PS4 but he insisted we didn't need 2 consoles of the same, I guessed because we were always hanging out here since Jimmy had a lot more space, and his apartment was more modern than mine.
Our game nights included pizza, tortilla chips, chicken burritos and a few candy bars, Jimmy had a box of beer and I had a pack of diet Pepsi.
Our first game of the night was GTAV, we took it in turns on the missions, it was by far my favorite game ever! "You know, I have a HUGE crush on Trevor" I said handing Jimmy the controller so he could do the next mission. Jimmy gave me a look and smiled nervously, "I don't get why pal. He's filthy, dangerous and I'd worry sick if you were in a relationship with him or someone like that..." he rubbed the back of his neck, something he did when he was always nervous. I tried not to over think what he just said, believing it was just his brotherly nature kicking in, he was always very protective of his closest friends, I gave a small smile to him and opened a drink for myself, "so you know what to do in this mission right?" I asked pointing to the screen, Jimmy nodded and continued doing the mission.
After 4 hours of playing GTAV we decided to switch to a different game - Watch Dogs. This was by far Jimmy's favorite video game. He passed me the controller, I had seen reviews and gameplay from YouTube but never played it personally, "c'mon Jimmy I don't know what to do!" I pouted. "It's very easy, you go around hacking and you find information about them on your phone. If you like GTA V you'll like this! Give it a go pal!" Jimmy was so encouraging, I swear he could talk someone to jump from an airplane. I hesitantly accepted the controller after placing my drink on the table and started to move my character, I really had no idea what I was doing but we sneaked up on some guy in the ally who was about to hurt a woman. Jimmy leaned in closer as I watched intently, "I would hate to see a man do that to you" he whispered, I looked at him and chuckled "you still thinking about me and Trevor?" I looked back at the screen and now it was a full on chase and I needed a car.. Me and cars. Yeah we get on perfectly, not. I failed my real life driving test 3 times. "Oh my gosh I suck at this!" I crashed into a post 3 times and Jimmy was laughing, "What are you laughing at grandpa? I've seen your driving on GTAV!" my comment caused Jimmy to laugh harder, it was very true, on those timed missions Jimmy would drive like an ordinary person and stop at traffic lights. After I crashed the 8th time I officially gave up.
"Hey I got an idea! Why don't we play Rock Band on Wii? I've got drums and a guitar... "He said walking towards a tall cupboard. "Yeah I know...I'm a nerd!" he said holding the guitar in one hand. I cracked a smile and stood up closer to him "if you're a nerd then I'm a nerd and we belong in a Nerdallon group!" I said as I pulled out the drums. Jimmy laughed and agreed, we High Fived and he placed the game into the Wii console.
We played all different types of music, Rihanna, Fun., Neil Young, Will Smith, Johnny Cash, Metallica and The Roots. It was a lot of fun even if I did miss a few notes.
"Hey I got you a gift!" Jimmy said as he placed the guitar down and walked out of the room, he reappeared 5 minutes later with a wrapped up gift. I looked at him in shock, "Jimmy its not my birthday until September" I hesitated if I should take the gift or not "and I didn't get you anything!" I went to sit on the couch, "I know but I want you to have it early and its kinda for both of us anyway" he sat down next to me and extended his arms with the neatly wrapped gift in his hands, I accepted the gift and began to open it.
As I ripped the paper off, I could see clearly now what it was. It was a Nintendo 3DS with Legends of Zelda game. I gasped loudly, "oh my gosh Jimmy!!! Thank you so so so so so much!! I love this so much!" I jumped up and gave him a very tight hug which caused him to laugh. "You're my best pal and you're loyal, so it's really no problem! But will you play with me?" he asked as he pointed towards the Zelda game, my smile turned into a grin "yes of course I will!"
After setting the Nintendo up, I thought carefully what my user name should be. After some thought, I smiled and added Jimmy as a friend. I saw Jimmy chuckle, "Jimely Nerdallon sends a friend request?" he asked, I nodded and laughed at his confused face "Whats Jimely?" he asked, I blushed 10 times brighter than normal I was certain, I cleared my throat and looked him straight in his eyes "its our names joined...kinda" I said in his Tony Joe White impression (you guys remember this? Lol), Jimmy laughed harder and accepted the request, like he had a choice right?
We began our Zelda adventure, and I guessed we wouldn't be going to sleep anytime soon considering it just turned 2am.
