"That's a wrap! Great job everyone!" shouted the director. We had just finished shooting a scene for a movie. It was so nice to get off work quite early, it was currently just passed 7pm in New York and we had been shooting since 5am this morning. I was best friends with Seth Meyers, we had met previously backstage at Rockefeller because I had made a guest appearance on SNL. We had kept in touch ever since.
Tonight I had an invite to an after party that was being hosted, to celebrate one of his friends taking over the Tonight Show. I was feeling very nervous as I hadn't met everyone and I wasn't that well known of an actress. I'm still yet to make my big break.
I went home and quickly jumped in the shower and got changed into a white with silver lining dress and my white heels. Curled my hair that just fell above my chest. Wore a silver necklace and some jewelry. And not to forget my silver hooped earrings either! I hailed a cab and gave the driver the address to where the party was being hosted. Apparently on the top floor of Rockefeller.
As we got closer my stomach started to clench, I was so nervous! I'm not a really big party person, weekends I normally like to sit at home and bum around in my sweatpants and tank top and just watch movies or TV, I had agreed to this because Seth had asked me so nicely and I am one of those people who can't say no! As nervous as I was, I was pretty good at masking it.
"Here we go Miss" the cab driver came to a halt as we stopped outside Rockefeller. I got out with my jacket over my arm and paid the cab driver and thanked him. After making my way into the building I did a speed walk into the elevator and hit the button to the top floor. I really really hoped that there was a party here and that I didn't misunderstand where I was supposed to be! As the elevator dinged and the doors open you was immediately exposed to fresh air and loud music and a medium size group of people. People here were so gorgeous! I was getting a few strange looks from them as I slowly made my way into the crowd. I just smiled at them as I walked past. "Y/N!!!!" I heard Seth's voice behind me, he turned me around and gently pulled me into a hug. I always felt at ease in Seth's company. Since it was him who had invited me here I was glad to see him. "Hey" I sigh with a relief as we pull apart. At least I had someone to hang around with I thought. "I'm so glad you made it. But I want to introduce you to a friend of mine and he's just become single!" Seth had a really big smile on my face, he pulled me into the crowd and stopped near the bar. "Jimmy, I want you to meet my good friend Y/N and Y/N, this is Jimmy Fallon" Seth introduced us. Jimmy had held out his hand with a smile, to which I gladly extended my hand to shake his. "It's lovely to meet you" he said with a big smile. "And you too, it's a good party here" I replied shyly. I always felt nervous and awkward around new people. Jimmy just nodded his head at my reply and Seth had quickly excused himself and left me with Jimmy. I chuckled nervously "he always does that" Jimmy said with a laugh, "can I get you something to drink?" he was looking a bit nervous now. "Yeah that would be awesome, I'll have a beer, please!" I could have asked for a cola, but I didn't want to seem like a party pooper! "Alright. Hey man, 2 beers please" Jimmy shouted to the barman, moments later, he passed my beer with a smile "A beer for the lady", I chuckled "Cheers!" we clunked our glasses and I couldn't help but blush.
The party was amazing. And I stayed near Jimmy the whole time as he was introducing me to the people around him. "So Seth told me you're taking over the Tonight Show?" I asked curiously. He smiled, he was obviously very honored and pleased about it. "Yeah I am. I never thought in my whole life this would ever happen to me, I just hope I'm not in a dream" he chuckled nervously. I just smiled as I wasn't really sure what to say. I'm yet to feel that way if I strike lucky and make a big break in my career. "So you're an actress?" Jimmy asked breaking the silence. "I am but not in anything big. I just make small budget films at the moment" I answered making eye contact with him. He had the most beautiful shade of brown eyes I've ever seen. I felt myself blushing, and was really thankful for my makeup so he couldn't see.
It was getting really late, and I still had a few scenes to shoot tomorrow. "I'm gonna head home. I have to be at work by 5am tomorrow" I said to Jimmy over the loud music. This was the first party I've genuinely enjoyed. Maybe it was the company? I didn't know but I hadn't laughed or even talked this much at any other party! Jimmy was smiling down at me, "I'd really like to see you again. Can I take your number or email address?" I jotted down my digits for Jimmy, as he did the same. "Thank you for this and for an awesome night" I said as I gave him a quick hug. Seth had left hours before without saying anything, I felt kind of bad because I hadn't even noticed. Jimmy offered to ride down the elevator with me and waited with me until a cab arrived. I finally hailed a cab and I turned towards Jimmy who still had a smile on his face. "I'm free tomorrow evening if you fancy dinner and a movie at my place?" Jimmy said quickly, "Sure!" I hope I didn't reply too quickly. I actually LOVED being in this man's company. He made a lot of jokes and made me laugh so much that my cheeks felt as though they were getting cramp. "I get off at work at 6pm tomorrow" I added. He nodded and we hugged goodbye.
I gave the cab driver my home address and proceeded to drive on. I turned around in the backseat of the cab and waved and smiled at Jimmy as he disappeared into the distance. Not surprisingly I too had a big smile on my face.
