I tapped the steering wheel absentmindedly as I waited for Elijah to pull into the park's parking lot. For once I was here before him and I welcomed the few seconds to calm my nerves.
"It's just hanging out," I whispered to myself. "He's just Elijah and you're just Ryen. Don't think too much into it. It's like basketball."
I breathed in deeply and let the air escape my lungs slowly. In and out. In and out.
In and - I let out a small scream when a hand knocked on my window bringing me out of the tranquility I was trying to achieve.
"Ready, Mystery Girl?" As I glared at him he laughed, "Did I scare you?"

"Okay, Captain."
His smile grew as he reached into his back pocket and pulled out a piece of red fabric. "I got something for you too. A captain is nothing without his first mate."
Then he put a red beanie on my head. Sliding it down my blonde curls and pushing a stray strand of hair out of my eyes.
"Perfect. Are you ready?"
I nodded with a faint smile and he grabbed my hand, leading me to his car.
