I tapped the steering wheel absentmindedly as I waited for Elijah to pull into the park's parking lot. For once I was here before him and I welcomed the few seconds to calm my nerves.

"It's just hanging out," I whispered to myself. "He's just Elijah and you're just Ryen. Don't think too much into it. It's like basketball."

I breathed in deeply and let the air escape my lungs slowly. In and out. In and out.

In and - I let out a small scream when a hand knocked on my window bringing me out of the tranquility I was trying to achieve.

"Ready, Mystery Girl?" As I glared at him he laughed, "Did I scare you?"

I nodded and opened the door, resisting the urge to hit him with it.

"I'm sorry for scaring you."

"You're fine." I fidgeted with the hem of my shirt and took my first real look of the day at Elijah. "Elijah, what in the world are you wearing?"

"What, you don't approve?" Stepping back, he held his arms out to the side. Standing in front of me was Elijah in almost full pirate gear. A red and white striped shirt, black jeans, and a tri-corn hat that he probably picked up from the toy store down the street. "Also, it's Captain today." He said with a wink.

"Okay, Captain."

His smile grew as he reached into his back pocket and pulled out a piece of red fabric. "I got something for you too. A captain is nothing without his first mate."

Then he put a red beanie on my head. Sliding it down my blonde curls and pushing a stray strand of hair out of my eyes.

"Perfect. Are you ready?"

I nodded with a faint smile and he grabbed my hand, leading me to his car.
