When the flashback came to an end, Azami-no, she was Araile and always would be-breathed shakily as silent sobs racked her body. Araile sank to her knees with her head tucked in between her arms. She suddenly felt a cool touch as her mother's figure lifted her chin, making the nine year old look at her parents.
"Mom...dad..." Araile whispered weakly as tears continued streaming down her face.
Her mother's cool hands wiped away her daughter's tears.
"Araile, don't cry. We have been here all along, watching and protecting you. Don't give up now," her mother cooed as she poked Araile's nose playfully.
Her father nodded.
"Be strong," he said as they both embraced Araile.
'It feels like mist is giving me a hug...' she thought to herself.
"Now go!" both of her parents commanded as the cloud began to disperse.
Araile heard whispers came from all around her through the barrier, but she didn't care. Right now, Araile only cared about one thing: defeating Kane, her brother.
"Finally out I see," she heard Kane mock as he started walking around the barrier.
"You killed them," she whispered.
"What was that?" Kane said calmly.
"You killed them," Araile growled out.
"Speak up, demon!" Kane said, raising his voice.
She looked up at him, eyes filled with hatred and anger.
"YOU KILLED THEM!" Araile cried out as she lunged at Kane, suddenly filled with energy.
Kane stumbled for a moment, then regained his footing and dodged a punch from the enraged girl. Kane smirked as he noticed her eyes as they changed colour from gold to purple. She suddenly froze and began trembling as a massive amount of chakra tried to take over her own. She took a couple steps back, clutching her sides as she struggled to control this massive amount of energy.
"Come out and show me what you got, demon!" Kane shouted as he rushed at Araile, katana in his hand.
As he swung the katana towards her head, her arm snapped up and blocked the blow. Kane blinked in surprise, but quickly recovered and jumped back.
Araile stood still; her eyes covered by shadows.
"Seishin, what's wrong with Azami?" Meiyo silently asked as she watched her friend just stand there, not doing anything.
"This does not look good at all. With Kane's barrier still up, I can't do anything now," Seishin said, an anxious expression on his face.
Meiyo looked up and seeing Seishin's expression, bit her lip and turned to watch the fight.
Meiyo's eyes widened.
"Seishin look! Something is happening to Azami!" Meiyo said as she pointed to her friend, everyone in the balcony looking as well.
"Not good," Seishin muttered as his gaze fell upon the girl.
Araile's nails had grown longer. Everyone could see that her canines had grown longer and sharper. She snarled when she felt a massive amount of energy trying to take over. It was starting to take over her body and mind.
'No...I can't let this control me...' Araile thought.
Seishin had mentioned that her demon energy could take over if she wasn't careful. She tried to push the large amount of energy away but unfortunately it kept on taking over, bit by bit. She opened her eyes and saw Kane standing there, smirking.
