Narrator (Kaoru's voice) : Atashi no namae wa... Nishioka Kaoru. Five years ago, I graduated college as an Art student. Don't you think I'm cool? Yeah... but, sadly... I'm not going to brag about my life after that. Honestly, life had been a struggle for me ever since. No. I'm not blaming anyone except myself. Have you ever experience being in a job you think is just not suited for you? ...That. All this time, I am always put in that kind of situation in which I am unsatisfied with my job and I always end up losing interest so I either resign or get fired for my poor performance. My oniisan had been reprimanding me not to get too choosy and just endure for our sake. But what can I do... I am an artist... as they say, if an artist just doesn't feel right, it shows in their work...so I can't help it. But I'm trying really hard to change myself...
See I was applying for this magazine company and I was pretty sure I might have a chance. Not to brag, but I was a hardworking student and graduated with good grades, so I was sure I'd get accepted in a position, but competition is really an issue nowadays and my chance dropped. To my surprise, they still asked me to drop by the office.
On my way, in the train, as I waited to arrive in the next station. I started to reflect a little about the years when I was still in school... when I was so enthusiastic and determined to reaching my goals... during that time, I was sure I'd end up big time, or at least I hoped for the best.
What happened along the way?
Why did I turn out like this...?
Despite having my reflections, I took notice of someone who was standing across me... someone... very familiar.
Never in my wildest imaginations did I expect I'd bump into this person who had, and would give a big influence in my life...

First scene : Inside the express train...
Kaoru : (staring oddly at the guy)
Ukiyo : Nishioka... Kaoru?
Kaoru : (shocked) Eh?
Ukiyo : Nishioka Kaoru... da yo ne? [Nishioka Kaoru, isn't it?]
Kaoru : (eyes widened) E-eehhhhh...!
Ukiyo : You don't recognize me-
Kaoru : Matsubara Ukiyo!? (with a loud voice)
Narrator : A classmate during college... Matsubara Ukiyo.
Ukiyo : (looks around) ... M-maa... (chuckles)
Kaoru : Hontou ni?! [Is it really you?!] (stops) A-...aahh... sumimasen. [A-... ahhh... excuse me.] (bows to the other passengers)
Ukiyo : Still very energetic, as usual.
Kaoru : (lowers her voice) W-what are you talking about? ... I was just a little surprised to see you in here.
Ukiyo : *Ore mo. [ Me too.]
(*When someone addresses themselves as "ore", it means they think highly of themselves.)
Kaoru : "Ore"? (shocked and looks at him oddly)
