The breaths I'm taking run against my throat, making it dry and rough. The crisp morning air feels cool against my covered skin. If it weren't for the snow on the ground, you'd think it were fall.

As I sprint past the candy store, I almost stop to buy some taffy, but then I remember that I can't think about food right now because I'm training.

I shake my head hard and keep running, for what feels like miles on end. But then, out of no where, I collide with a body, much like my own.

With all the force I was carrying, I tumble forward and fall on my face, while the person tumbled back and fell on their back.

"Oh my god. I am so sorry. I should have payed more attention!" I say as standing up and looking at who I hit.

Oh my. I think as I, probably really awkwardly, stare at him.

"No no. That was my bad. I was texting while walking. You, on the other hand, were training?" He asks, eying me down.

"Yeah. There's this big race next month. I have to get ready if I want any chance at states." I reply, eying myself quickly.

"Oh. Of course. The Daxal competition. Right?"

"You've heard of it?"

"I've run it a couple times."

"You run?"

"Why is that so hard to believe?" He smirks.

"It's not it's just..."

"Yeah. It's okay."

"I never did catch your name."

Mystery boy grabs my hand and writes something on it. Once he's done I notice it's his phone number.

He turns and starts to walk away.

"What's your name???" I yell after him.

"You'll find out soon enough." He yells back.

I stare at the mysterious boy as he walks away, soon setting into a jog.

Who was this mystery boy?

Will I see him again?

Will I ever learn his name?

Questions like this are still racing through my mind as I pick up my running and finish through my house.

I walk in, not expecting a fucking surprise party.

"SURPRISE!" Everyone screams, causing me to jump back about 5 feet.

"Good lord, are you trying to give me a heart attack?" I question.

"Maybe." Calum smiled as engulfing me in a huge hug.

"OH MY GOD! Calum! I missed you so much!!!" I wrap my arms tightly around his neck.

"I know sis." He says.

I don't pull away from the hug, even though there's a whole party waiting for me.

It's been a couple minutes and I'm not even close to budging.

"Are you okay?" He whispers in my ear.

"I...." I break off, not quite wanting to tell him.

"Let's go talk." He says.

I nod slightly, before getting picked up into his embrace.

He carries me into my room and closes the door. He sets me gently on the bed before sitting next to me.
