Rin's POV

The last puzzle piece clicks in my head. Of course it's my Nii-san. Itachi stands in front of me covered in blood. He stares at me and says coldly, "You, not allow me to pass? What makes you think that you'll succeed?"

"I can try," I say with a small smile, "Itachi, why are you doing this?"

"It wouldn't matter to you," says Itachi as he stares down at me, "in a few moments I will wipe out this entire clan."

"What a liar you are, Itachi," I say quietly, "you always think you can hide everything from me but in the end I find out. This does matter to me." I look up at Itachi, "You're in pain, aren't you?"

Itachi's POV

She struck a nerve. Rin takes a small step closer. "It's not too late to turn back...please don't kill mother and father and Onii-san. It will be very painful to you, will it not? To kill someone you love is a hundred times morel painful than the death of the person himself." Rin frowns and her tone actually changes to a pleading one, "Please...Nii-san...."

I takes it as a chance and I rush at Rin, but she was ready for it. She leaps up and uses my shoulder as a spring board. She falls back down on me and actually draws a gash on my arm. I stumble just a little bit, that was very surprisingly fast. "You foolish girl," I whisper, "you think wise words are going to change me? You think I'm not able to kill my own clan? Those things limit us, Rin-"

"Don't lie to me!" Rin yells and her voice echoes on the dead streets, "I've seen it in your eyes when you saw the other kids of the Uchiha play together. You were happy for the peace. I saw your expression when Onii-san and I played together! You don't want these happy days to end....you don't want it to end in blood.."

Something itches at my eye but before I can blink it back Rin rushes at me. I kick her back but she lands in front of me. She sticks out her index finger and I see a single drop of transparent liquid drop down and fall with a splash onto the puddle of blood on the ground.

"Your tear didn't escape my sight," said Rin, "you and I both saw it. You can't lie to me anymore." Rin bites her lip and a tear escapes out of her eye too. "I'm in pain because of this too, you know? I...I don't want to imagine this kind of life..." I start to shake, "And what about Sasuke...what about yourself, Nii-san? Do you really intent to do this without caring about yourself?"

I shake my head and I start to walk forward when something grazes my nose. Rin through a rock at me, she was breathing heavily and she glared furiously, "You'll tear yourself apart!" she shouts, "Don't you get that? I don't want you to hurt yourself either by killing your own siblings and your own parents! Even if you didn't care about us-"

"I don't-"

"-then you would still hurt yourself!" yelled Rin, "And that...also hurts me..." Rin looks up at me, "Everything was so perfect just for once...I got my first smile from father...I actually had a chance to go to the academy...and you..." Rin shook her head, "For once Sasuke and father understood you as a family member, not a competitor or a heir to the clan! I heard their conversation, they really wanted to understand you and make a better relationship! Things wouldn't have been so tense and harsh anymore, DO YOU REALLY WANT IT ALL TO GO AWAY?!"

I don't dare speak a word, lest I say the wrong kind of thing.

"Mother!" Rin shouts, "She never did any harm to you! She was the most caring and kind mother ever! She always did her best to understand you and Sasuke, and she always succeeded! She's completely innocent."
