Three Years Later

Itachi's POV

Today, was yet another mission. How dull. But this was the life of Shinobi. Born a tool, live a tool, die a tool, and then at your burial people would say "an end worthy of a shinobi." That's a little.... Depressing.

About a year ago I was given the title of an ANBU captain and so far, father seemed to be satisfied with what I was doing. Shisui and Kakashi are excelling at doing their job as Anbu too, of course. Kakashi usually goes with a person named Yamato, code name Tenzou. Occasionally however, I would lead both of my friends on missions. They usually took a long time but it didn't really seem that much since all three of us had a sharingan, even Kakashi.

~Morning

I sat at the kitchen table and silently at my breakfast, I would have to depart soon to meet with the heads of Konoha including Sandaime Hokage and discuss my mission before rounding up a few Anbu. I was dropped a hint that the mission was to infiltrate an enemy base. Sasuke picked at his food and father was reading the newspaper with a cup of tea. Mother stood in the kitchen making more breakfast.

There were some quiet footsteps and all of us looked up. Rin stood in her night gown rubbing her eyes and approached me. She was now six years old but it she still made me lose myself everytime I saw her. Rin, an angel like always. Rin tugs at my sleeve and looks up with her eyes half closed.

"Nii-san, what does it mean when someone says 'use me to dry every inch of you' and 'he kissed me on every surface?'"

............what? What? I slowly looked down at Rin in shock. How did she manage to find such... Suggestive phrases?

Sasuke stares at Rin, a piece of bread falling out of his mouth.

Father and mother look completely horrified and the entire kitchen is silent as we all stare at Rin.

"What is it?" Rin presses on.

"Ehehe..." I chuckle uneasily, "where did you get such wierd phrases Rin-chan?"

Rin shrugs and rests her head on my lap, she mutters something sleepily and finally she says out loud, "I went in your room in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep. I was bored so I read the books under your bed. You know," Rin looks up at me with her usual wide innocent eyes, "the Icha Icha series."

Ah.

A part of me sighs and if possible, sweat drops. Another is horrified at Rin's discovery and another part of my consciousness blesses Rin for her innocence. In the kitchen there is an uproar. Sasuke falls backwards and holds his mouth in shock.

Sasuke glares at me from across the breakfast table and shouts out, "You baka, Onii-san! It was already bad enough when I came across it! Why can't you take care of Rin better and make sure she doesn't get her hands on those books?!"

Mother rushes over the Rin and quickly starts convincing her that the books are really nothing and Rin shouldn't think about them. Rin looks confused and asks what is so bad about kissing and I could swear that mother sweat dropped, if I could see the sweat drops at all.

Father rubs his brow and shakes his head. "Those Make-out paradise books Itachi?" he says wearily, "The ones that the Hatake sharingan kid always reads?" Father glared at me from under his hand, "Now why would you read those books Itachi?"

"Heh," I chuckle lightly, "Kakashi isn't a kid, father, he's nine years older than me. I'm going to be late father. I'll meet you later. Rin, Sasuke, practice your weaponry and body techniques." Feeling the eyes in my back, I leap out, trying not to look back into the awkward silence that follows me.
