New Life

Imarina's POV

It's been a week since my babies were born and life has been peaceful. Jackson and I no longer feel the need to protect our charges. Thanks to their orders to focus on our cubs and new life. And that fact I am no longer pregnant helps also. As I felt even more need to protect the originals while I had three other future werecats inside of me.

But it doesn't mean we haven't been staying in the loop. On what's going on. Like Ric was put in jail for murder and is now out. The others think his ring is driving him insane. Because of all the times he has died. Just like her ancestor Samantha Gilbert. Bonnie did a spell and got some herbs to try stop Ric from going crazy. Hopefully it works until we can find a real cure.

Caroline and Bonnie are still helping Abby adjust to her new life as a vampire. Although she has a day-ring now, she is having trouble adapting to the vampire "lifestyle" because she cannot feel her garden or nature anymore. In fact I heard she left again after she hurt Jamie.

There's a new vampire in town. Her name is Sage and she was turned by Finn. She still loves him even after all these years. It's romantic. And she may be just the person we need to get Finn to agree to the unlinking spell. Rebekah and Klaus are closing in on him. Kol meanwhile is in Denver befriending Jeremy encase Bonnie decides she doesn't want to help unlink the originals.

Oh and a white oak tree survived. It could kill all the originals. Rebekah destroyed it though. It's wood had been used to make the Wickery bridge. But I feel like she didn't get it all. Jackson has the same feeling. I guess our job as protectors isn't done yet. Especially as Finn was killed by one.

But I just heard from Caroline. That most of the white oak stakes the Salvatores had made from the Wickery Bridge sign. Were handed over to Klaus, to save Damon. Who was being tortured by Rebekah. But one stake is missing, the one Ric had. His alter ego has hidden it. Now he is locked up while they try to find out where his evil alter ego hid it.

"Do I have to go?" Jackson asks me.

"Yes, Elijah needs to know what is going on" I tell him. "Don't worry, the babies and I will be fine. Besides we have your witch friend on our side" I remind him.

"I just hate to leave you all" he tells me.

"It won't be for long and we'll face time every day" I assure him.

"Don't worry, I'll take good care of them" Lucy adds.

"Thanks Lucy, I feel better knowing you're here" he tells her. Just then our babies wake up wanting their next bottle. "Duty calls" he tells us with  smile. He picks up Akima. I pick up Henry while Lucy grabs Noah. We each fed the babies their bottles. Before changing their nappies and burping them. They go back to sleep. "I'll miss them and you" he tells me.

"We'll miss you too" I tell him. He hugs each of our babies and kisses their foreheads. Before hugging and kissing me. Then looks at Lucy.

"I don't need a hug or a kiss" she says in a teasing tone. He rolls his eyes. "Get going, the sooner you leave. The sooner you can return" she tells him.

"Ok, but take good care of them for me" Jackson tells her.

"Don't worry, they'll be safe with me" Lucy assures him and he leaves. "Want lunch?" she asks me. I nod my head and she goes to the kitchen to make it. While I sit in the rocking chair. Watching my babies sleep. I remember the first week of our new life.

Most of it was tending to the babies. Trying to get them onto a feeding and sleep schedule. Not easy with three babies. If one wakes up, they all wake up. It's been really helpful having Lucy here the last two days. An extra pair of hands. But now we'll be out babied again with Jackson away. Sure, my friends have wanted to visit. But we wanted this house to stay a vampire free zone. Maybe, we can organize a trip o the park or something. So that the others can meet the babies officially.

Lucy returns with mac and cheese. I thank her and we enjoy our lunch. When I get a text from Caroline. Asking if I'd go to the 20s dance in four days. I said thanks for the invite, but that I couldn't come. As Jackson is away and it's to short notice for me to find a babysitter. Which isn't a complete lie. Jackson is gone and I do have a babysitter. But I don't have an outfit and I don't want to leave my babies to go to a decade dance. Even though a 20s dance sounds like fun.

"So Lucy, tell me about yourself" I say.

"Well I'm a Bennett witch, in fact Bonnie is my cousin" she tells me.

"Oh, I know Bonnie. She's a friend of mine" I tell her with a smile. "Her mum was recently turned into a vampire and she is having trouble" I add.

"I'm sorry to hear that, Aunt Abby was a powerful witch" she tells me. "She desiccated Mikael years ago" she states.

"I heard about that, she lost her magic for a while after that" I tell her.

"It was a very powerful spell and took it's toll on her body and soul" she tells me. "It is sad that she is vampire after only recently reuniting with her magic" she adds.

"It is, but it was her or Bonnie" I tell her. She nods her head in understanding. "Are you gonna see Bonnie while you're here?" I ask her.

"Probably not, the less people who know I am in town. The safer you'll be" she tells me. "And your babies" she adds smiling down at them. I smile too. "I have a gift for you" she tells me. She hands me a box, inside was a necklace. "It'll keep you from going into heat or having babies for the next five years as long as you wear it" she tells me.

"Really?" I ask and she nods her head. "Thank you, I am so not ready for more babies yet" I tell her.

"I know" she says. "But know when it wears off or when you take it off. You'll go into heat a week after. You must never take it off, otherwise it'll stop working. Then you'll go into heat quicker then normal" she explains.

"I understand, thank you" I say and put it on. I feel both a wave of coolness and warmth go through me. I smile, I guess that means it's working. Just then Noah starts to cry. I grab him and try to settle him before he can wake his siblings. Luckily I manage to get him to settle down to quiet whimpers and I notice he needs another nappy change. I do it and he goes back to sleep. Thank god.

No one said my new life would be easy. And I haven't left my old life behind yet. But I wouldn't change a thing. I love my new life and I love my babies. And Jackson with all my hear. I'm actually planning a surprise wedding for Jackson. We promised to have a real wedding once the kids were born and I've been working on planning one. I hope he likes it.
