MASSEY SUMMERS:
With all the drama going on I found myself alone at school.
Alex was M.I.A ever since she left my house that Saturday. She was probably locked away in that room of hers with 'Secondhand Serenade' on repeat and Sage was out 'sick'
avoiding Alex was more like it.
The rest of the day was uneventful. Except during lunch when Mrs. Mathews slipped and fell down the stairs, revealing the stash of weed she kept hidden in her shoe.
Now I knew why her class was so fun...
After school I made my way to cheer practice when I ran into Vaygan who seemed like he just got to school
"Ditching school I see" I said walking up to him
"Maybe" he smirked "School is so savage"
"Well, you missed Mrs Mathews being caught green handed. They found weed on her. Did you know she was such a stoner?" I asked
"Where do you think she gets her weed from" he answered raising an eyebrow
"Well this is high school" I said, laughing at my own crappy pun
Vaygan smiled, running his fingers through his dark shaggy hair.
"A bunch of us are headed to the beach, if you wanna hang?" He suggested
"I cant," I said pointing to my cheer uniform "I have practice"
"You're such a cheerleader" he snorked sarcastically
"And you're such an ass" I snapped back at him
"Be aggressive. B-E aggressive" He sang mockingly before walking off.
All eyes were on me as I entered the gym
"You're late" Coach Marks said irritatedly
" Why are we having practice when Sage isn't here?" I asked as I joined the rest of the team
"Didn't you hear? Sage stepped down as captain" Cody informed me "This meeting is about who'd be replacing her"
"So we have to take another vote?" I asked, confused as ever
Coach Marks sighs "If you had been here on time, Miss Summers, you would have known that we are not having another vote, the next person with the highest amount of votes will replace Sage"
It can't be.
"So our new captain is... McKenzie?" I asked and I could feel my lunch making its way up.
McKenzie Howard was the most annoying person in the world, her two favourite words were 'me' and 'I'. If it was possible she'd have the whole squad removed so she could be the centre of attention... And now she was going to be captain
McKenzie turned around towards me "You hear that Mas? I'm in charge now" she said as she flipped her wavy blonde hair over to her other shoulder
"By defualt, you piece of shit" I accidently said out loud.
McKenzie glared at me and walked right up to me " At least I'm not a pathetic little slut like your bestie. Is it true she's pregnant with Levi's baby? How did poor Alex take that news" she said like she was speaking to a baby.
"That's enough" Coach Marks yelled out.
The gym filled with whispers from the cheer squad and before I realised what i was doing, my fist was in her face and she fell to the ground"
Suddenly everyone was quiet.
Coach Marks jumped up and pulled me away from McKenzie
"What the hell Massey?" She yelled out "Detention! And you're suspended from the squad, now go home before this gets worse"
I was too upset to protest. My heart was racing and I was filled with adrenaline. I took a deep breath and walked away.
After the episode I made my way to Sage's house
"You stepped down as captain?" I asked as she opened the door to let me in. Once I was I began my ranting "McKenzie is the new captain! You know how crazy she is, what were you thinking!"
"I can't cheer, M" Sage answered "all the tumbles and flips and jumps makes me more nauseas than I already am, and besides I'll be back in a few weeks"
I was confused "what do you mean "a few weeks? Sage,"
I was almost too afraid to ask
"Are you going to have an abortion?"
Sage just gave a blank stare
"You're parents are like strict fucking Catholics, they would never allow it!" I half shouted at her.
"You think I don't know that Massey?" Sage bursted out into tears "they'll kill me if they found out or they'll force Levi to marry me and Alex will kill me. Either way I'm dead, I have to get rid of it before they find out"
