A Trip Across the Sea

First day on Board

                                                                             Chapter 2

   It was 9:00 when I finished cramming things into suitcases. Happily I flopped into bed and fell asleep. When I awoke I heard Chad banging on my door. Surprised I jumped out of bed and pulled my clothes on. I opened the door cautiously and peered out. Chad was standing there looking impatient.

 “Sure took you long enough” He said as I dragged my 4 suitcases into the hall. He didn't seem surprised and I saw why. He had the same amount of suitcases and my father had 5!!

 “How long are we going to be gone???” I asked.

 “2 months” Chad answered.

 “REALLY!!!!” Evan said coming up behind me.

 “Yep” Patrick answered dragging a huge suitcase behind him.

 “Cool!!” I said.

 Dad came up behind Chad and said “Yep, we'll catch a bunch of fish.”

 Chad helped me put my stuff on board the boat and then I went inside to say good bye. Mom was crying and I wiped a tear away and said “We'll be fine. I promise.”

She didn't look convinced but nodded. I went back outside and hopped up onto the boat... with some help from Chad. Quickly dad turned on the motor and we were off! I was so exited! Heading down to checkout the sleeping quarters I ran into Evan.

“What's up?” I asked.

“Nothing I'm already bored.” he answered.

 “Oh come on aren't you at least a little exited?!?” I asked surprised.

 “Well I guess, but what are we going to do for 2 months on this ship? I mean really. We'll be bored after about the third week.” He answered.

 “ You don't know that.” I said.

“Whatever.” He said and walked off.

 I didn't let him ruin my fun. I wondered around and found a small kitchen, a bathroom, a really small living room, a small dining room, and 3 cabins. They each had a sheet of paper on them. The first one said Dad and The Warrior, The second one said The S.S. Nobleman and The Strong Gladiator, and the last one said The Princess Jasmine. I grinned. Obviously dad had used the name's of the ships to tell who's cabin was who's. Guessing that the room labeled The Princess Jasmine was mine, I ventured in. It was a normal cabin with a small bed that pulled out of the wall, a small closet, and a dresser that was nailed to the floor with a reading lamp on top. I pulled the bunk out and found pillows stashed in it. Next I opened the closet and a beanbag dropped out. Quickly I went back on deck to find Chad.

 “What you need me for??” He asked as I came up.

“Can you help me get my stuff to my room?” I answered.

“Sure.... Which ones are yours?” He asked.

 I looked over at the pile of bags and picked my four out.

 “OK. I'll carry 3 and you can carry the last one.” He said picking them up.

 I knew I couldn't argue so I picked the 4th one up and followed. Chad dropped the bags on the bunk and left me to unpack. I stuffed my clothes in the closet and in 3 of the drawers in the dresser (There were 5) The other 2 I stuffed with books, plush animals, etc. When I finished I headed back up on deck to see if dad would let me drive The Princess Jasmine. He laughed and said “Sure, but I need to help so you don't get us lost.”

 I grinned and took hold of the wheel. The ocean was beautiful!! I loved the smell and the wind in my face. Hunger drove me down to the small kitchen. I opened the fridge and found milk. Then I looked in the cabinets and got cereal. I poured myself some and walked to my room. I set the bowl on the floor and folded up the bed then I dragged the beanbag over to the center of the room. A few min later Chad came down and invited me to a game of charades. I agreed to join in and Chad put me on Evan's team.

"What should I do???" I asked. “It needs to be hard to guess.”

“You could be a stick. Just lay down and don't move.” Evan suggested.

 I gave him a funny look and said “Yea, why don't you?”

 “How about a worm. Worms are cool.” He said.

 “I'll be a boat.” I finally decided.

“How are you going to act out a boat?” he asked.

 “Don't know but that's the fun of it.” I answered.

 We played a few other games then we all went to bed.
