Lucy slammed the front door shut behind her.

"Mum, I'm home!" she called out heading straight up the stairs to her room. She noticed a neon bit of orange paper stuck to the door. Lucy reached out and peeled it off. She hoped it was nothing serious, school had seriously drained her of all her energy.

Got called into work. Left money

for pizza in the drawer. Going to

be home late. Love you, Mum x

The Office: 0207 932 4632

She let out a sigh pushing her bedroom door open and dumped her bag by the beanbag under the window sill.

"Great" Lucy said out loud to herself. She got changed putting on some grey sweats and a plain baggy white t-shirt she found comfortable but would never be seen dead in outside the house. Her mum's office always called her mum in at the most inconvenient times, one time she got called in on New Year's Eve and had to leave in the middle of the party they were hosting. Ms Brooks didn't really have a choice in her opinion, ever since her husband had left her for that tart Rebecca they had had financial problems. Lucy's father, Steven, had left them just over three years ago when Lucy was just twelve after her mother realised he had been cheating on her with one of her supposedly best friends. After that Sandra had lost trust in everyone but her daughter and close family.

Lucy sighed as she threw herself down on her bed. What to do now?, she thought to herself. She picked herself up again and walked over across her bedroom floor which was covered with clothes and CDs to her fold out desk by the window and opened her laptop.

Just as she sat down her phone started ringing. She got up and checked who was calling, it was an unknown number. Curious she answered;

"Hello?"

"Lucy Brooks?" replied some girl whose voice she didn't recognise.

"Speaking, who is this?"

"Byronnie. I heard 'bout your scene with that chick Danielle, must say, I'm impressed"

"Sorry I don't remember a Byronnie, what do you look like?"

"Brown curls, chocolate eyes, perfect teeth, designer clothes" the girl replied surprising Lucy as how full of herself she was until she realised she was talking to the head Queen Bee. Her eyes widened in surprise.

"Yeah I remember you" she relied slightly hesitantly but trying not to show it.

"Course you do... as I was saying, pretty impressive"

"Urmm... thanks," Lucy said not sure what she was meant to say, "I mean she's just another girl right?"

"You're so clueless it's sweet" Byronnie said laughing softly.

"Right"

"Me and a couple girls were going out to the mall after-school, care to join us?"

Lucy raised her eyebrows, wow, she thought, stand up for yourself and the girl in command wants you to be her new BFF. She grinned to herself, things were going just as she'd planned with no effort from her end.

"Sure" she replied pleased with herself.

"See you then"

"Bye"

Lucy ended the call smiling to herself. Guess today wasn't all bad after all, she thought going back to her laptop. She logged onto her Facebook and found she had fifty-two friend requests. This was looking good. As she was looking through the requests to see if she had seen or spoken to anyone, she got a message. It was from someone who wasn't on her friend's list, Jennel Blakely. She opened the message;

U d grl getin

bright w/ Danielle?

"What on Earth?" said Lucy quietly to herself in a bit of a shock. Who was this Jennel person and how had she found me on Facebook so quickly? She sighed, she'd have to play this smart, she rolled her eyes and replied;

Who is this?

To her surprise she got a reply just a few seconds after she'd clicked on SEND.

Jennel, Cnt u read?

Stay out of Danielle's

way yeah?!

Lucy's eyes widened in surprise at the girl's forwardness, there was no beating round the bush with these people. It seemed to her this Jennel girl was looking for trouble. She didn't want any, especially if it was with someone from Danielle's group. Lucy thought about how she should reply. If she didn't the girl would think she was a coward. If she got rude then that would spell trouble for her with a capital T.

Sure. Whatever

, was what she settled for. It wasn't rude but it showed that she wasn't going to bow down at this Danielle person. Lucy waited by her laptop for a reply, a couple minutes later she realized she wasn't getting one. Lucy wasn't too sure of that was a good or bad thing.

Starting to feel bored and not bothered to go through the requests, she headed downstairs, phone in her hand. After dialling for a pizza she slumped down onto the couch and grabbed the remote. Flicking through the channels Lucy started getting restless when she couldn't find something which interested her while she waited for the delivery guy. She settled for a repeat of last weeks 90210 episode snuggling down, hugging a big soft brown pillow on her lap.
