The sun fell through the large glass panes watching for the past hour as the young dark-haired lord paced back and forth outside her door.

He  thought the night would be enough for her to recover but it had been  all morning now and he realized she was waiting for him to leave. At  this rate he would have grey hairs before she ever let him near her again.

He knocked on the door for the umpteenth time.

Layla who was pacing inside biting her nail winced away from the door realizing he was still there. She had already showered and dressed for the day but refused to go out and face him. How in the world was she going to face him? Or anyone for that matter?!

"Love, come out. We have to talk." She forgot that Qais was twice as stubborn as her.

She pleaded the Lord of heavens silently for him to leave but alas, he had no plans of going without seeing her.

"Fine... I'm coming in."

Panicked she scrambled into her bed, pulling the duvet over herself and trying  to calm her rampant heart. It might as well have been connected to a  loudspeaker she cried at how loud it was.

The door clicked opened.

She curled into  herself, scrunching her face into the pillow. Yesterday's scene  replayed in her mind like a horror movie. A horror movie where the  monster seemed to be the most beautiful man she had ever seen and the crime in question a heart-racing, butterflies-igniting, mind-numbing kiss. The first of her life. And by how shamelessly he stood in front of her, she feared he intended it to be the first of many.

The devilish lord sighed both endeared and exasperated at the figure swaddled in blankets.

"Won't you even look at me?"

Silence.

"Darling, I know you're not asleep."

"I am." Came a muffled response.

The blues turned into amused crescents, tongue in cheek.

"I see. Are you going to wake up soon?"

"No."

He laughed to himself. "And how long do you plan to hide?"

"Forever." The duvet tightened.

"Tsk. I guess I'll just have to wait here for forever then." He leisurely took a seat in the armchair as if he had all the time in the world like a lazy lion watching a rabbit pretend to play dead.

Layla cursed under her breath at his stubbornness.

"You're going to suffocate yourself in there, sweetheart."

Maybe it was the endorphins from the kiss still in his system but Qais had never been so amused. Layla could hear the humorous lilt in his voice and she wondered if she jumped out of the 23rd floor would it hurt a lot?

Luckily the bell came to her rescue. And she could hear the indignation in his voice against Pasha when he got up. As if waiting for her to emerge like a bear out of hibernation was the most interesting of activities that he was disrupted from.

When the door clicked shut she pulled the duvet down gulping a large breath of oxygen.

Pasha zeroed in on the russet-haired in the lobby. Dressed in a leather jacket and matching cuissardes, perusing through a medical magazine as she waited. Nobody was allowed to the penthouse without an approval and an escort, and Qais had specifically made the staff stall her downstairs.
