Regina's eyes flickered open with the bright rays of light filtering through the gap in the curtains of the living room. Her head was pulsing, a sharp pain stabbing at the inside of her eyes and putting a scrunch in her brow. Her mouth was dry like cotton wool and she had a crick in her neck from the position she'd slept in. She rubbed circles into her temples attempting to relieve some of the pressure from her headache and sat up slowly, a wave of nausea sweeping over her. She took a deep breath and opened her eyes again, looking around the room for evidence of the night before - she didn't remember much.
There was a glass of water on the table, a white piece of paper propped up next to it with her name scrawled on the front in slanted writing. She grabbed it and opened it out, grimacing to herself as she realised who brought her home last night.
Hope you're okay, I think it was that last tequila shot that did you in.
Give me a call,
Robin xOh god, she was a mess.
A nice guy actually wanted to spend time with her and she got so drunk she couldn't remember half of the night. She hoped he was at least slightly drunk too because if not she must have looked ridiculous to him. Still, he had asked her to call him. So she took a glug of the water before reaching for her phone and dialling Robin's newly-inputted number. He picked up on the third ring."Morning, sleeping beauty." He said and she glanced at the clock - it was half one in the afternoon.
"I'm sorry about last night," she said, voice scratchy because she hadn't used it today yet.
"Don't be, I've seen much worse," he chucked, adding, "at least you knew where you live."
"True," she said, relieved he was being so nice about this. "But I must have looked like an idiot."
"Regina, you were run over this week, I think you deserved a drink." Despite the lightness of his words, she knew they were tinged with guilt that he was the one to have run her over in the first place. "Are you feeling okay?"
"As okay as someone can feel after seven tequila shots." She said grimly and sighed, her skull throbbing under her skin. "Thank you for leaving the water. And bringing me back home in the first place."
"Well I couldn't have just left you there on your own." He sounded genuine and Regina believed him.
"Thank you."
They talked for another twenty minutes or so before Regina heard Roland shout for his papa in the background and she let him go. "See you later," he'd said and she really hoped he meant it.
